How would I rethread the egr pipe hole on the exhaust manifold, if possible. I guess mine stripped somehow when I loosened it, or when I tried putting it back on. Anyway the hole is fairly large so would it be better to just buy a used oem exhaust manifold?

You could try retapping it.

you could just put the male end in the female end and then use something like epoxy/jb weld/similar if all else fails.

I don't even know the size I would need to retap it. I never thought about using jb weld on it. My first thought was fuck now I gotta buy an exhaust manifold. Thanks. I will keep that in mind.

Or delete your egr like everyone else on this site. lol

I need smog lol. I took the egr system out to clean it cause my nox was almost 3000 at 15mph.

weld a new nut on the manifold

That's the spirit!

I would just Jb weld it and call it a day.

Yeah I'm gonna stop by an auto parts store on the way home and pick up some jb weld.

^^There is stuff that holds up even better on exhaust components called Liqui-Steel. Should suit your needs nicely.

I can't post the pic but is it called liquid metal filler. Thats what I found when I searched on google

I've just been told that putting jb weld on the manifold will catch on fire...what that liquid metal filler.

when you go to the parts store, the max operating temp of the fillers/etc should be on the package

What temp would be best on the manifold.

What temp would be best on the manifold.

id make sure it can take at least 1000f

High temp exhaust sealant- PERFECT for turbo manifolds (http://www.driftworks.com/forum/parts-sale-private-sales/115415-high-temp-exhaust-sealant-perfect-turbo-manifolds.html)

something along these lines?

JB weld will probably work for a while, but bake out and crumble. If you just need it to pass smog, it will probably work for that long.

See if you can get a muffler shop to weld the right size nut on.

I heard jb weld catches on fire. I guess he experienced it. I need it more than smog lol. Either seal it, weld it, re-thread or buy another manifold.

I might get this.

No... JB weld melts when it gets too hot.

Well I've been misinformed. Anyway I'm gonna try the versa chem sealant and see if it'll hold temporarily

fix it right and weld a nut(or the correct bung for best results) on it like I stated before a muffler shop would charge less then 10 if you just took them the manifold and nut and had it ready to go. yes I agree you can put some metal miller and call it a day but what happens when you need to remove the pipe again.

supasan

Yeah that is true. I'll take the manifold apart and take it to an auto parts store to find the correct nut tomorrow morning since I don't have school.

in a perfect world that would be the primary solution... but the world is imperfect.

i needed just a few tacks worth of welding on a broken exhaust pipe and the shop charged me $60 to stick weld it! (after shopping around)
