Ok, I have 2 turbos right now. I had the gt2871r on the car with 750cc injectors. I also have a t28 from a gtir (.86hotside) with 550cc injectors. I was thinking about selling the gt2871r and going t28.

I autox twice a month mostly, i use the car as a daily most of the time, and i would like around 300-350whp. I hate the spool time with the gt2871r and miss the accel my 16g dsm had, even though it died at higher rpms.

My question is, is there a way to run a t28 on 750cc injectors and get around 340whp and still have top end ? i know the 16g would die at 5700-6300ish in power. I want 0-80mph times, as i autox and the only drag i do is 1/8th mile. I loved the feel of accel the 16g had in the dsm and miss that with the lag the gt2871r has. is there a way to increase the spool by alot without going smaller hotside ? the g2871r is 86 as well. i love the power the gt28 makes but the lag and wait time for the power is really boring for a daily and autox car.

have you considered a twin scroll setup?

have you considered a twin scroll setup?

I have, but right now I need to either sale the gt2871 and get something else or keep it and try to make it spool faster than 4200 at full boost.

T28 won't get 340whp. 300whp MAX and the TQ curve will be shit.

With my 2871 set up at 1 bar 307whp, a nice flat TQ curve making 250wtq at 3500rpm, raising to 280wtq and staying flat until redline, Ianage to be trapping 87mph in the 1/8th with 2.6 60fts and 9.5 ETs hahaha. Traction issues.

It doesn't take much power in these to get into the 8s and 80+mph traps in the 1/8th.

yea i think i'm stay with gt28 and get smaller/shorter piping and log instead of tube manifold and see how good it spools then. cause right now i'm at 18psi at 4300 if not later. :/:picardfp:

What hotside do you have on your 2871r?

My GTX3076 makes 20psi at 4200 haha

Hey i have a log manifold with the 2871r .86 and im about the same as far as spool. 19psi by 43-4500 rpm... Need dyno log for exact but you get the gist..

You could try going to a .64 hotside for faster spool. If that still doesnt please you, i would look to see if there are any divided housings available and go twinscroll manifold.

The GTiR turbo will do 340, if you upgrade to a 62T compressor wheel (discopotato) and comp housing, as it sits its rated for 33lb/min, of course you'll still have a setup that doesn't do exactly what you want, you need to buy a .64 housing for the 2871R, and preferribly put it on a stock manifold modified for an external wastegate.

If auto-x & 1/8mi are your thing, stick to the T28 & 750's; and maybe add some Poncams and a good EBC if you don't already have one. You can make a nice little profit selling the 2871 & 550's and get the fun-factor it sounds like you're looking for.
