So here's my story

92 240sx
165,000 miles on a s14 ka

Was out the other night on it pretty hard, and my belt (alt waterpump) came loose. Didnt notice until smoke comes from the hood. Coolant everywhere etc. Shut her down checked it out and nursed home after cool down (less than a mile)

The next morning I put everything back together. Refilled coolant used the "proper" bleeding process according to what I have read (loosen bolt until the coolant runs out then tighten and start the car while filling additional coolant after thermo opens)

Still "overheating" Temp runs high (not all the way to the top, but close) but will drop back down some. Goes back and forth with this

in addition to that issue, my oil pressure light has come on and there is substantial noise coming from the engine bay (sounds like a very very loud chain rattle (much more than before) )

I'm thinking based on everything it may be time for a new engine, however if anyone has other ideas that would be less time consuming, im 100% on board to check them out ;)

Thanks so much in advance! :bigok:

Sounds like your engine may be toast. Have you checked the oil to see if there is coolant in it? The main concern is the oil light and the noise. The oil light only comes on if the pressure is below ~6psi iirc; oil pressure should normally run ~35psi depending on the rpm and pump life. If the light is on all the time, there is major problems with the oil pump or oil circulation. The loud rattling noise is probably an indication of this.

Engine must have been toast. It was really really bad on the way over to the shop. found a new KA out of a vert that I'm having put in now. The shop suspects the bottom pulley wheel was the culprit. They mentioned that the cheaper pulley wheels are not properly balanced and result in oil pump failure. Either way, I should be back on the road Friday. Thanks so much MX
