So when I bought my 93 SE it had no exhaust on it, just the open stock shorty header. The problem is the EGR crap is still on there and it's making it run terrible with breakup I cant even shift sometimes because the rev's wont come down. I just ordered a block off plate but need to get around in the meantime, is there anything I can do as far as a temporary block off? Someone on another fourm said they just put a piece of sheet metal over and bolted the mani back on, what do you guys think

Also I've asked before and people told me it was ok as long as I do a licence plate bmc heat shield but am I fucking anything up by running open header? Obviously I'm planing to get and exhaust but I can't find a stock one locally because redneckville and I can't afford a aftermarket exaust, test pipe and header right now. Seems way too hot under there and I cant even rest my heel on the floorboard when driving bearfoot.

Lol, Florida. Driving barefoot? License plate BMC heat shields?

To answer your EGR blockoff question: the block off plate that you ordered and the piece that you want to bolt on will work the same way. It's cut in a certain way to keep things looking like Florida. It'll work the same way as what you ordered and if you take the extra time to do it right and cut it, you may even return the one you bought.

As for the heat, you could apply a layer of heatshield under the car and maybe inside the cockpit. Maybe wearing shoes would help you out too.

You could burn valves running that way. You could also warp valves when you turn off the motor. Notice I say could, because it can happen, doesn't mean it will but it is still a possibility.

How about about getting an exhaust before you run the car, personally that seems like the best idea and you won't be spending money trying to mask an issue that is only there because you are not running an exhaust.
Go buy some ebay shit it is still better than no exhaust, and you only need to find a downpipe, cat/test pipe and catback, no need to worry about a header right now because you have your stock exhaust manifold. Or hell go to a muffler shop and have them build you something crappy until you can afford something better.
