Okey for starters I have a 1996 240sx with stock s13 sr20det blacktop with a t28 running 62 ecu. I just purchased the car a few months ago and ive been resolving issues that it had when I baught it. One of the main issues was car was running rich(gas smell at times and gas in oil) and bad idle. So I changed the spark plugs to brke7 gapped correctly changed the fuel filter....but no change. So I took the car to the nearest performance shop that works on sr20s and the guy checked it out said I need a new o2 sensor the wires were freyed and code 34 was also popping up on the ecu thats why the car felt a little sluggish so we changed the knock sensor.that night I took the car out for a spin and it felt more responsive and no more gas smell. So I thought it was all good so today I get caught in traffic with the car and it was kinda hot out for about 30 min and after I hit he onramp for the freeway it bogged down when I tried to hit boost wouldnt rev past 3k engine sounded like it was accelerating but it didnt go any faster it had never done that before. It felt like the car was tied towimg another car behind it im at a loss and the shop is over an hour away and I work too much to take it back again in the next couple weeks any input would be greatly appreciated...

^^Check all your vac/boost lines. Check all your electrical connections & grounds. Use good (93oct) gas and NO fuel additives EVER.

I sprayed down all the vacuum lines, injectors, intake, ic couplings, tb, with brake cleaner and nothing no change in idle I went over the grounds and all snugged down. And I use 91 octane fuel there is no 93 where I live :(

**update**
So yesterday idecide to take the car for a drive I let it warm up and everything is fine when I cruise down the street I dont notice anything wrong and I decide to hit the freeway and the onramp I accelerate a littlebit faster and I notice a burning oil/plastic smell along with the old whinning noise from before and I pull off the freeway onto a street and at the stop sign I start choking on all the smoke thats coming from the tailpipe whitish grey smoke. It hasnt overheated at all it never goes above the 1/2 way mark in fa t its always a bit under the line maybe 3/7ths so I turn off the car and pop the hood as the car idles it idles perfectat 870ish rpms. I turn off the car let it sit for about 15min and start the car again and no smoke at start up but I start to drive and again and the whinning noise with the smoke and burning oil/plastic smell and if I ac elerate more than half throttle it feels like im dragging a trailer but it I accelerate a little more slowly I dont even notice any power loss...... I give up ive had this car for that long and shyt gets from bad to worse im about to sell this pos :(........I drove over an hour to the shop I previously took it to in san jose only to find the place is abandoned so out of fear that I will leave me stranded I take it to the next nearest tuner shop for a compression and leak down test I could have done it myself but honestly im losing I terest in this I think I bit off a lil more than I can chew wish me luck ...for the people that read this I will post the results.

Check to see if your turbo is on its way out. Look for shaft play and if there are issues with the blades. If the seals on it are bad, it will start smoking a lot. You can check your intercooler piping as well for traces of oil, but most of it usually dumps out on the exhaust side of the turbo.

**update**
So I get a call from the shop that the compression on all cylinders is at 145 across the board but they inspected the turbo and it took a big fat dump therewas enough play in the shaft it bent in the compression wheel blades :( shop said "their guy" will charge about 800~1000 to rebuild so yeah thats pretty much it any advice on what to do I thought it was a lot cheaper to rebuild for that price I could get a new one right ? Well im think im gonna see what my optiions are as to a replacement can anyone help me in distinguishing which turbo this is thanks in advance for the help.
