Yes they do.

There are probably more fakes out in the market than real Greddy pans.

lol just fyi the moroso pan is also aluminum. The difference is that the greddy unit is casted aluminum which is more prone to breaking, while the moroso is sheet aluminum.

moroso is also a superior design. they pretty much replicated what tomei was doing with their SR oil pans.

I would never put a cast aluminum pan on my car, real or fake... Especially with how low people like to have their cars now a days.

REAL greddy oil pans are VERY strong units. fakes break/shatter easily due to faulty/cheap casting process.

As far as I know the fake ones don't have the "sr20" or small little "trust" cast into them they are just blank. I have had both real and fake. The casting on the fake is a lot rougher than the genuine unit.

That's ridiculous. You've got just as much of a chance of terminally damaging your stock oil pan as a quality cast aluminum pan.

My Greddy oil pan feels way more rugged than the factory oil pan, those things crumple like nothing.

tomei steel pan for me.

circuit sports has one too.

i'd buy the CS one over a real greddy.

Not to mention the crossmember and sway-bar will take a beating well before the pan gets touched.

LS motors run cast pans exclusively from the factory.

Wouldn't cast aluminum be better than sheet aluminum anyways? I think I would rather have my oil pan crack and leak a little oil than get dented and completely starve the engine of oil without me even noticing. It's much easier to notice a leak than a small dent that could stop the oil pickup from working.

the moroso oil pan doesnt hold a candle to the tomei design

those hex plugs that need to be removed during installation/removal is a total fault area, in my opinion. being made out of alum is another weakness

the tomei is so fucking awesome. the stainless steel construction and tig welding is TOP fucking notch. the circuit sports version looks like a bizzarro copy in comparison

For the miniscule price difference between Moroso, GReddy, and TOMEI, without a shadow of a doubt I'd get the TOMEI. Superior design, good quality, and I've never once gotten a TOMEI product I didn't like or looked janky. Not to mention it's repairable if you smash it to a certain extent. The GReddy? No dice.

Real Greddy pans have "SR20" cast into the front and the Greddy logo on the bottom. Older ones have the Trust logo on the bottom.
While there are many copies, I am not sure if there are any that also retain the logos. One can also tell the copies apart by the swing baffles. The authentic Greddy ones look nice and precise, while the knockoffs use slabs of steel riveted to some re-drilled hardware store door hinges.
I have a knockoff pan and I removed the swing baffles because I do not trust any moving contraptions in my oil pan.

As for materials, I prefer the cast aluminum because it will just shatter when hit too hard, as opposed to pans that dent, bend the oil pickup, and ruin the motor while the driver may not even suspect any serious damage yet.

Though a good skid plate should protect any oil pan.
Or one could make a bash plate, similar to the JUN pan.

CS steel pans are actually a lot like the tomei ones.

to be honest, it looks just like mine.

Looks like they copied the design and made it out of steel instead of aluminum.

Tomei or Moroso all the way. Don't buy knockoffs for things like this. I have heard horror stories of porous cast having slow leaks. At very minimum if you must do a knockoff pan, do not get a cast one.

now if that ^ was covering the whole bottom of the bumper too, would be proper. but you need a lot of bolts to secure that, you dont want it flying off in a race (danger to teh manaflod!!11)

You expect Zilvians to read previous posts? :bowrofl:

To the OP, yes. As has been previously stated, counterfeit Greddy pans are probably more common than real ones. I have a Greddy copy myself, and it works fine. But as has also been previously stated, I'd recommend the Tomei or Circuit Sports pan.

The only thing i would have against a tomei or moroso pan is that from what ive seen they dont have the groove machined in to the mating surface where it mounts to the motor. Someone with a moroso was telling me they couldnt get theres to seal %100, leaked a "cd sized puddle over a year". Maybe they didnt use enough sealer or something though i dont know..

I currently have an authentic Greddy.

bc.

My Greddy pan had a groove that was too big. I used a ton of RTV just to seal it, it did seal well though.

Canton Racing (creator of accusumps) just came out with a new pan last month, Enjuku is the only one I know carrying it. I've picked one up and will be installing it soon, maybe I'll post pics and a review, but probably not.

Tomei pan checking in.

Can vouch its a steel pan, my baffles inside are aluminum. It's a beast pan. You are going to have to drop your engine on a big ass rock to dent it.

but yeah, i'd rock a steel pan over AL any day.

Don't forget that Canton now makes SR20 pans (and oil adapter blocks) too. Super slick piece.

FWIW: I've had the greddy on my car since day one, even mistakenly had it fall kinda fast on the engine hoist on the pan, no issues. If you hit something hard enough to ruin that pan, you've got issues elsewhere in the car, to possibly include a bumper in the bushes, teeth marks in the steering wheel, and whatever you had in the trunk now in the back seat.

I dont understand where people say it "its will/can ruin your engine"... are you guys not running oil pressure gauges? That one guy couldn't get his to seal cause he used a screw driver to pry it off...

Anyway, I have a Moroso and bitch is built tough, and i never see oil starvation on the banks...

You have seen these right? Super quality price.

Granted most oil pans get installed once, and that's it, but I don't care for the 4 additional (potential) failure points of the Moroso pan with those silly plugs for the inner bolt holes...it's an afterthought at best. They are well built though don't get me wrong (I can attest, a good friend took his s13 on a special rally stage once, and the pan survived)....I just don't like having 4 potential extra drains added o the bottom.

With that said, the Tomei has a nice thick flange compared to the others...I've always liked that part as they are obviously less resistant to warpage.
