Let me start off by saying I have already searched for hours and am at the point where I need experienced advice. I have an S13 VLSD and recently picked up a Cusco 2-Way LSD from a Z32 TT for a price I couldn't pass up.

All the reading I've done says not to use this LSD because it will either not fit and that the gearing is too low for the S13.

Is it the actual LSD itself that doesn't fit or the entire differential assembly/housing not mounting up to the 240SX subframe that everyone is referring to? Can I fit the actual LSD itself in the S13 JDM VLSD housing?

Basically want I want to know because I'm too stupid to figure it out myself without pulling my diff and actually trying is whether a Z32 TT 2 Way LSD would fit in the S13 VLSD housing with the S13 ring and pinion.

S13 is 200mm z32tt is 230mm. Hence the r200 and r230 naming scheme respectively.
So it won't work.

saying it "wont work" is dumb !!! if you can modify the mounting points of the subframe to match the R230 as a whole .it will work .but not worth it.

now as far as the internal workings / gear ..no you can not swap r230 guts into a r200 diff housing.

Just install the 2 way in the z32 diff and install that diff in your subframe. You should get spl solid differential bushings and be happy. The z diff bolts right in with the s13 diff cover installed. I've heard that the gearing in z32 and r32 diffs is great depending on what you are doing with the car. Stronger as well, pretty sure they are five bolt axles tho, dont quote me on that.

Well, that's true for z32na only.
Z32tt is 6bolt and doesn't bolt up to stock subframe

This iv tried a r230 dif and it just won't fit period. Unless like stated before modification to the subframe. And that's just not worth it. If you worried about braking it get a r32 rear diff and bolt it up and you'll be good to go

^^^This. Only way you can use this diff is to swap out the whole subframe for a R230 subframe off a Skyline GTR, then you still have to change out the hubs for the larger axles.

OP was probably thinking/researching about the NA z32 diffs which will work with the mods he was stating.

My bad i was under the impression it was a NA z32 diff. I had one in my last coupe. Bolts right in with the s13 diff cover and the longer diff bushing bolts. These guys ^ are correct. The TT came with hicas not lsd factory so the differential and subframe were different. I'm not sure if a TT 2 way lsd can be swapped into the NA case? Anything is possible im sure. I've heard of people shaving the inside of a case to make different ring and pinions work but that is far too much work for these cars when there are a ton of other options out there.

^^^Not possible, the difference between the 2 is huge. You can't stuff a R230 diff into an R200 housing.
