Hey guys,

I just installed the Z32 e-brake drum assembly on my car, with the 2 + 2 e-brake cables, and the whole assembly is barely expanding when I pull the e-brake handle up in my car.

Not engaged:

Engaged:

Can't even see the difference.

I know that there are at least two things I could I adjust, one of which won't really help (adjusting the 10 mm bolt underneath the e-brake handle, which I've learned only adjusts the free play). The other thing I know I can adjust is the little adjuster on the bottom of the drum assembly, which only adjusts how far out the whole assembly is in order to make contact with the inside of the rotors. I tried spinning this adjuster but I don't really see any change...could this assembly be put together incorrectly? What else can I check?

Anything look wrong here?

Even with the rotors on, e-brake engaged, the rotors are still able to spin with little force.

I can see the spring inside the drum assy being compressed when I pull the e-brake handle, so it seems the cables are installed fine. AND that little "seahorse" looking silver piece in the drum assy DOES move position quite a bit...

Not engaged (e-brake handle down):

Engaged (e-brake handle up):

...but the brake shoes barely move out of original position, if at all.

BTW, I am using 1990 Q45 rotors. A user of Zilvia (username ghoti) said the rotors will work, and they DO appear fit perfectly within the backing plate that holds the brake assy, so I'm thinking this isn't part of the problem.

Please help! If more pictures are needed, I will take more if it will help you help me. Thanks.

You have to splice the z32 cables to the stock ones and make your own brackets from what I understand

Hey waxball88, thanks for the reply. I have already solved the problem! :D and I forgot to mention that I do have those custom brackets already, so no splicing for me! It turns out that the handbrake was pretty loose and that I DID have to adjust the 10 mm bolt underneath the handbrake as well as the little adjuster on the bottom of the drum brake assy. Off the ground, just trying to spin the rotors with all my strength with the e-brake engaged, the e-brake works great! Now for a test drive and test park... :P
