View Full Version : KTS coilovers, who rebuilds them?

I remember reading how there was good support for these coilovers, now it seems non existent... I contacted SPL parts and they said they don't deal with those coilovers anymore and forwarded me to fortune auto who don't rebuild those as well. I also contacted Feal Suspension which isn't so sure that they can rebuild them, they would have to inspect them in person which I can't bring to.
These seem quite popular even to this day especially on this forum, so I want to refuse to believe that no one can rebuild these. Is there anyone preferably local that can rebuild them for a good price? Any input is appreciated, thanks!

Check local motorcycle shops. Many of them do in house rebuilds.

You could call. They rebuild them you'd have to ship them though

KTS-web (http://www.kts-web.com/overseas/products/suspension/db.html)
That is their website, not sure if they are still in business but their website is up.
I had them on my 14 for awhile. Rear bushings went out bad and they started leaking oil.
They made 2 versions, regular and super low. I had regulars. Rode decent I guess. I remember reading somewhere that they were made in the same factory as HKS coils but that could just be a conjecture.

These and some hks coils are inverted so they can't be rebuild or atleast that's what feal told me

Feal Suspension rebuilds coilovers. You could try them.
Edit: nvm... just read reply above me

Already stated that I talked to Feal. However, to be in-depth, they said they can only rebuild them if they are mono tube non-inverted, which I don't believe them to be. I sent an inquiry through the japanese KTS website, and hopefully they can find someone in the nation, it is out of the question to have them sent to Japan.
I could try the local motorcycle shops but that has to be a last resort.
It's just disappointing to see how people were bragging how good the rebuild support was. Anyone else?

Dazed was nice enough to give me the link to the website to which I sent an Inquiry. They just replied today and want to know if I have KTS Beta's or Sigma's.
I didn't even know there were different ones, but after a bit of research it seems the Beta's are 15-way adjustable while the Sigmas are 30-click 2-way. I'm pretty sure mine aren't 30-way but I'm going to make sure once I get to my car which is being worked on far from my house. I'll let you guys know what KTS tells me afterwards.

try getting a hold of D2 if nothing works out. both companies use the same diameter pistons rods, so the seals should be almost identical. they have pretty awesome customer service too. back when i had my S13, my buddy told me to give him a ring and see if he could hook it up whenever i had a problem; his shop is the east coast distributor for D2.
4 years strong and they still looked great the day i sold them. i had the low ver. w/ swift springs. rode like a dream even maxed out with a touch of preload.

Which model KTS coilovers do you have. I believe they sell replacement dampers you can just swap all your hardware on to. Let me know and I'll give them a call and if they are available I'll get you a price. They will be cheap to ship because the dampers alone are pretty light.
Are these the ones you have?

It's hard to tell which ones those are as they look similar but it seems the ones you linked are 30 way adjustable, and I'm 99% sure mine are the other ones (Beta's) as I believe they are 15-way adjustable. I can't test right now since the car is about an hour away from me, but I've verified with whom I bought them from, and he said there is no way they are 30 way adjustable. I'll try to get a serial number of some sort from the coils to try and further verify.
I contacted KTS and I received word back from them, saying they would charge me a fair $122 (12,000JPY) per damper, which as you said, I could swap all the hardware onto. I really appreciate you willing to give them a call for all that, forreal much thanks!

I'll deff give them a call if this doesn't work out!
BTW KTS has verified that that the rears are monotube non-inverted, which should indicate that Feal suspension local to me should be able to rebuild them.
I'll further update with the final results. Thanks guys.

Did you ever find out if Feal Suspension will rebuild the rears?

It's very likely that they will, as they said they most likely would be able to rebuild monotube non-inverted, which is what KTS confirmed with me that the rears are.
I haven't brought it over to them yet to confirm since they want to see it in person, but at some point I will very soon, and if they do it's a very fair $100 per corner.
If not, KTS can send dampers from Japan at 12,000JPY X2 = 24,000JPY, plus 8,533JPY for shipping by DHL (to Los Angeles) and 1,627JPY for paypal comission totaling to 34,160JPY, converted to U.S dollars is $354. Still not bad but better worth taking to Feal Suspension.
Oh, and delivery time would be one month, as opposed to Feal's estimate for 5 business days for rebuild for both.

Yeah it'd be was easier to do it local, and quicker. I just bought some rear k office coils cuz mine are blown. Just wanted to see if you found out if Feal would do it or not. Please let us know when you find out!
