Car stats: 1995 nissan 240sx se 150k on the stock ka24de non turbo bone stock except a few things

Plan for the car: just a nice everyday driver to work with a little clean style

Picked the car up from a family members friend for 400$

I'm probably going to piss a lot of you off but i have a few questions this is my first Nissan actually my first car, I've owned nothing but jeeps in the past. i have mechanical knowledge just no experience with with foreign cars. So first off i know i have a almost stock car, body is in amazing condition the interior needs work like carpet and seats which i just ordered. The thing that concerns me is the engine bay by the looks of it the previous owner hacked a cold air intake in it by cutting the MAF sensor so that he could slip on a cheap filter thats the easy problem. My biggest concern is the head bolts are all miss matched which tells me the previous owner must have tinkered in the engine, see what i dont know is if he replaced the head gasket or just the valve cover gasket bc the gasket looks sketchy as hell and on top of that the two bolts that mount the coils onto the head, one of them is snapped off into the head so i was wondering can i drill that out and re tap it.

id see if you can extract it and clean up the threads with the right size tap.

nice price on the pickup though...get ready lots of people are going to come in and probably yell at you for stupid reasons haha

Is the valve cover leaking oil? It might have been replaced like you said. Either than or it had the notorious KA timing chain rattle. As far as the broken studs/bolts, drill/tap them out. Take a couple of the good ones, match the threads and get new hard ware. Doesnt need to be grade 8, torque range for the valve cover is soft, like 15 ft lbs max.

yeah i figured ppl would come in and yell lol and ok so i can tap the out il try to extract the bolt with an easy out first if i can and yeah i read on the timing chain noise and rattle i plan on pulling the valve cover is there anything u guys suggest i should be looking for either problem areas or things that just needs to be maintained and checked over?

also this isnt my first post i already introduced myself now im just looking to start my project and looking for some suggestions im pretty thick skinned so i can handle all the harsh comments i just hope ppl will be respectful and just help me out like i said im not looking to do anything crazy like turbo my car or anything just tunning it up to make it look good and run right.

no its no leaking but it looks like crap i mean the guy put some kind of sealant along with the gasket which is weird so i figured i remove the valve cover clean up everything and put a new gasket on it so it doesnt look like crap and it looks clean.

If being a "tool" means suggesting you to follow the rules and use the appropriate threads, then sure.

People warned you about people "yelling at you" because your thread is pointless. You scored on one of the cleaner chassis, does it deserve it's own thread? I'm on the side that says no.

We have a picture thread for you to share your pictures. We have a small questions thread to ask questions. If you were looking for praise on your purchase and your future plans, stick to social networks.

See thats where i respectfully disagree with u im not going to put my question in a thread thats just going to bury it that may sound arrogant or selfish but i want suggestions and answers and i included a picture bc i wanted to give ppl an idea of my car and what il be working on so i honestly dont see a problem here.

You could turn that thing around and make a couple grand on that. I'm waiting for the day I find a deal like that

stephenhbouck
07-23-2013, 12:52 PM
i wish it needs a complete interior seats carpet and a radio bezel lol

slideslidegnarslide
07-23-2013, 01:00 PM
That's nothing. People pay more than that for shells man a lot more. Interior is simple and cheap if you hunt around the forums and find stuff

stephenhbouck
07-23-2013, 01:02 PM

stephenhbouck
07-23-2013, 01:12 PM
There is absolutely no rust at all its always been garage kept and washed weekly the guy who owned it was its original owner and is an older gentlemen

Go in the for sale section there is like 3 s14s down there being parted out. Sorry I don't feel like searching for you but they are recent. And yeah man that's a deal.

Why does it need an interior if everything else is so mint

07-23-2013, 01:16 PM
dudermagee I dont really get why u r complaining why is it im not allowed to talk about my car? do i tell you where and what to post no last time i checked i have every right to post what i want to so if you dont like it dont click on my thread its that simple. i just enjoy talking about my car or other guys cars i like tech talk and i like a good discussion even if its not productive why cant a couple of ppl who all own or like the same type of cars talk about them?

stephenhbouck
07-23-2013, 01:18 PM
The guy let his dog pretty much use the car as his dog house so there was rips and tears and the carpet smelled sooo bad and was stained so i ripped it all out and decided to just restore it and make it look and smell clean lol

Because for some reason you can't comprehend how this forum works.
Also your too lazy to type shit out.

Come back when you have something more interesting than a stock S14.

What a stupid and pointless thread, the world doesn't revolve around you

Build threads:
Almost everyone enjoys building their cars and sharing that experience, as well as checking out others' builds for inspiration. Sadly, far too many users have a tendency to do half-hearted builds and either rarely update or update with trivial progress. In the interest of keeping the Chat forum clear of three hundred 'Install SR, ziptie aero, rattlecan paint' threads, incomplete, or in-progress build threads are not allowed. If you have completed your build, wrangle all those pictures into a post and tell us about it, but make sure the build is finalized. If you insist on having an in-progress build, Premium members have a specialized subforum for that specific purpose.

Very. Simple.

Also you should know that using your full name on a forum and having a searchable FaceBook account is a bad combo.

You know man, you don't need to double/triple post... You can just edit your previous ones...

Also, you're going about this wrong. You can talk about your car all you want, but the people here don't like to do that... Because they've seen you before... A hundred times. Minimum.

Besides, the forums here are patrolled by moderators and administrators, who generally take themselves seriously enough to close/lock/move your thread when it ceases to be relevant/amusing/civil, and if you break rules, expect them do something about it.

This is about as polite as it gets around here. Listen to the people who know more than you (it applies to forums as much as cars). You'll enjoy your time here a lot more.

Do explain why im not allowed to start a thread talking about my car and why i must post in a watered down cluttered thread just to have my subject and opinions buried? thats all i want to know

SuperBlackS14
07-23-2013, 02:35 PM
Because people don't like to look through a million threads of the same thing for an answer to a simple question. As far as talking about your car nothing. But people here don't generally care as much as you do. But when you tell people you don't care when they link you rules, it annoys them.

But if you want a real reason, it's cuz this is Zilvia. Where the streets are paved with assholes.
