I can't help but notice that every single tuner in japan has removed their stock driver seat and has replaced it with a bride/recaro seat. I know that authentic bride/recaros are priced for at least a grand here in the states, I have a hard time believing that in Japan the prices are the same. Does anyone know what those particular seats are priced at?

About the same. The difference is that most people modifying cars do it as a hobby and don't spend every cent on the vehicle. They also know that when it comes to Safety... knock offs aren't intelligent.
Also... you're probably not looking at the jank shitty cars from Japan, just the some-what-well-done cars.

When talking "people" are you talking Americans or Japanese?
Brides are Reccaro knock-offs and most have the exact same certification of eBay seats... nothing.

What's funny is that "Bride" is a registered trademark in Taiwan and they just so happen to manufacturer seats that are exactly like the Japanese "Bride". Go figure....

That doesn't mean anything (not that I'm defending Bride) due to differences in local trademark laws and also Taiwan doesn't have normal political status and it effects international treaties as such.

To answer the OP's question, the NEW seat in Japan is considerably LESS than they are over here. Bride is apart of what is considered their "domestic aftermarket" they don't have a price mark up for importation, customs, tax etc.
Consider this as well, the used parts market in Japan for the size of the country is pretty big. Many companies export/import parts (oem and aftermarket) to other countries from Japan. There's money to be made selling used parts second or third hand.
A used Zeta III in Japan can be 300-400 dollars, but here it can sell for upwards of 600-800 and they don't take up much space in a container if they're packaged and arranged correctly.

Oh yeah? Just like the FIA approved Zeta III?
Knockoff Bride and real Bride quality are NOT one in the same.
The real seats have a much more rigid fiberglass shell and the materials are way better than the fakes.
Comparatively I prefer the feel of the non-fia approved and the fia approved Zeta IIIs I've owned to the Recaro pole position I've owned.

They have like 3 approved sests and a dozen unapproved. Go to their website. Their recliners are only rated for 180lbs. I find that very concerning.
SRD's are actually crash tested and of OEM quality. I love the way Bride seats look, but I've always been skeptical of their value compared to established players.

Pole position sucks compared to the SPG

SRD is my passengers side seat and its very comfy and solid. Much more so than many other recliners I've seen. Bride seats are very stylish, but personally I'd take a recaro over a bride any day.

I think I always wanted an SPG, but they're hard to find (used) I'm cheap/poor.

I bought a pair of pole positions way back when, and they were too wide, didn't feel that supportive. Sold em and scored a SPG for drivers, SRD psgr. Best setup IMO.

Yeah, I would totally do that for my car. There's a Bride Euro gradiation that matches my Zeta III on craigs up here right now.
used bride rails are around $50 USD in japan.

Used parts in japan are abundant, its not uncommon for me to walk into Upgarage and pick up a pair of Bride Ergos with rails for less than $500. I paid $450 for my pair of red mismatched Ergo I and Ergo II. I've had a pair of Recaro SR3s that I paid $250 for.
Brand new parts on the other hand...I wont necessarily say its cheaper. Exchange rate sucks balls but its slowly getting better again. I miss the good ol' days of 116y to $1 exchange rates. My dollar goes alot further than it is with the shitty 80y exchange rate.

I wouldn't put a Bride seat in my car simply because of the name.
Dunno what Bride means in Japan, but in America it means bitch to me lol

Is that Brid? Like grid, but with a B?
To the OP, it seems used seats, at least, are quite a bit cheaper. I've been looking into Recaro SPG's. There is an importer somewhat local to me with a used one, but they want 700$ for it. For that I would just buy a new one. My friend has found some SPG's in Japan for sale for like $300 in great condition.

New Bride's are just as expensive in Japan, but due to the used market and the fact it's a domestic company used for for considerably cheaper.
Go to Japan and want to buy new, expect to still pay $800+.
