You asked and we delivered(finally!).

After months of testing, fitting, R&D, CAD, laserz and so many other things we have the KA plate available for sale.

Here is what you can expect:

-Stronger gears
-Better gearing
-Smoother and more precise shifting
-Newer transmissions
-NO MORE TRANS FAILURES

If you are familiar with our SR20/Z33 adapters then you know how awesome of a swap it is. After 100+ SR kits sold and installed worldwide we've heard nothing but good things about the Z33 transmission.

Just take a look at the size comparison!

SR AND KA 5SPD HAVE IDENTICAL GEAR SIZES

As with our other adapters you will need a few things to complete the swap.

-Adapter plate
-Transmission mount
-Driveshaft
-Shortened shifter bracket
-Modifying Z33 Bellhousing, The KA also requires some mods for the starter hood to clear.
-Stainless steel clutch line. There are many vendors out there who sell these.

Pricing:

Just the plate and hardware is $430 shipped

Additionally other mods are available in stages depending on what you want to pay for.

Bellhousing Machining. Not just any machine shop can do this because of the size of the bellhousing. $100 +ship

Shifter modification. You send in your shifter and it gets modified then sent back to you. $125 +ship

Transmission crossmember. You can retain the original rubber mount(aftermarket mounts will also work). $100 +ship

If you need further proof of (destructive) testing. Here is a video of Chris Forsberg (https://www.facebook.com/ChrisForsberg64?fref=ts) trying his best to kill a transmission. After going through a few 5spd stock transmission he called us up and we worked on getting him a KA adapter.

I just wish they only needed the adapter plate for the sr20, all the other stuff it needs to be modified kills it for me financially :(

The price is cheaper than Z32 swap and much much cheaper than a dogbox.

It's also cheaper than constantly replacing stock transmissions when they blow up. I'd rather have something that works and will get me through an event vs wasting all that money when my trans blows on the 1st practice lap.

in chris's vid is that with the shifter modification? cause i notice at 10sec of the vid he cut some of shifter hole and it sits further back than stock.

Chris did his own shifter mod. I'm sure they shortened it as much as possible.

The transmission is bigger and longer than the stock one by a lot. We shorten the bracket as much as possible but depending on your motor mounts and how far they set the motor back, you might need to notch the cutout.

We have a few in stock right now ready to ship out. PM sent. :)

Yes, the starter hood will interfere with the bellhousing. It's a small and quick mod. You will continue using the KA starter.

Do ya just have to chop the little cone that surrounds the starter gear? or is the mod in the bell housing? If i delivered the trans to you guys would the charges be the same as quoted, except without shipping? (considering that im in AZ and i believe you guys are as well?)

Here's a question, I don't have the shifter bracket but i have everything else. Can I buy one from you already shortened? I did the whole vq swap but principle remains the same. I kinda wish this kit was available years ago, I might have kept the KA. Anyways, It's hard to come across that bracket by itself.

We do not modify the starter hood. We clearance the bellhousing for the starter hood. Charges stay the same. :)

Its tough to get the right bracket as there are 2 different versions made by nissan. There is one for the 350z and one for the G35. The transmissions are identical but for some reason the brackets are ~10mm off on the mounting points so they can't be swapped around. Because of this we like to only modify the brackets that came with the trans. Unless you know which trans you have then we could help you source the right bracket.

What's the average cost of a one piece driveshaft? And how much needs to be machined off the bell housing?

maverickmotorsports

Driveshaft is $320 for steel and $390 for alumn.

Machining numbers are given upon purchase. :)
