Just saw this on Ebay. What the hell? 240's are getting too much attention from the ricer crowd. It used to be, when you do a search for silvia or 240sx on ebay, for the most part, you would get a search full of good quality parts. Now you get light up shift knobs, gay nismo graphics, and a bunch of other gay bs. I actually saw one auction for Sparco pedals for the 240, and the link said JDM. And I was like WTF? Then when I opened it and read it, the seller said "JDM Sparco Race Pedals (not really JDM, but it sells easier)."

I daresay that Lamborghini-style doors are only good on Lamborghinis, and even then it's marginal. Only the '80s cheesy goodness that is the Countach really can get away with it.

i'll agree they shouldn't be called "lambo" doors, but... i DO like 'em on some applications, and i think they'd look killer on an s13.... but 1400 for universal fit hinges is ludicrous...

Hmm...good point about the good stuff. But it makes one think of a civic....sure there is PLENTY of AMAZING parts available for it....but when you talk about a civic to most people they automatically think of all the shit thats out for them/all the shitted-up rice civics running around. Its a Catch 22

EDIT:Then again,there is SO many people that don't even know what a 240 is,so I geuss your right. For instance:75% of the people that try to assume what it is....are wrong.Mechanics included. They all think its an old 300zx. I've even had somebody tell me that its the cleanest old 240sz they have ever seen,and what was my secret.240zx and 240z are other common ones. That was a Vertex rear bumper. Now its all fucked up. Cause i crashed a couple time that night. Oh well, it looks the same, just held together by zipties and duct tape now. Hahaha. Yup yup. They make all clear for the s13/s14/and s15. I think ive seen them on a s14 before but it didnt look all that great. I think Taka Kaira has them on their site. Not sure. I saw the clears in my Drift Tengoku mag April 04 with a green 180 on the front if you want to check it out.

I've said alot on this thread,but haven't really commented on topic,so here goes:I've definitely do a lambo-door conversion if it wasn't so damn heavy+expensive. For the money I could put in an SR. For the weight I could add a couple of subs....both more functional IMHO. Besides,don't ya think if I had that money I'd be running KA-T or SR ? lol...IIRC it adds ALOT of weight as well.

most of those "kits" are junk.. they do not work like true "SCISSOR-styled" doors, which swing upwards immediately.

these, swing OUT.. THEN lift upwards. Many Z33 owners have had to do work to their doorpanels to make the unit operate without interfering with the panel (custom doorpanels).

Personally, i think its crap.. but if you like that kinda stuff and think you're fancy, go ahead. I wouldnt butcher my car with that kind of kit, thats for sure.

Just to add my 2 cents, I think the vertically rising doors are called jackknife-style doors, and the other kind, where they kind of open on a slant were called gullwing doors. I could be wrong though.

A local shop owner's 240 has some "Lambo doors" on it. I mean, kinda looked cool. But man, when i saw the guy who was driving it trying to close the door. You first pull out a pin that holds the door up. THen u CAREFULLY let the HEAVY door swing down. Then is sits as if you opened your door like 5-6 inches open, then from there you have to try to slam it shut. It was pretty funny trying to watch him open and shut the door 3 or 4 times just tryin to get the door shut.

There is NO pins on DECAH kit. They do open normally about 6 inches then swing upwards. I had them on my civic for the past 2 years and never had any problems with the shocks or clearnace. I have a 240 now and have not heard or seen any problems witht he decah kit from anybody so far.
As for the JDM kit that was talked about earlier.... That "JDM" kit your talking about is nothing more than a COPY of the original designer (DECAH) but with slight bolt-on, and piston mods. Nothing to make it any better, possibly make it worse in my eyes.

But either way they are just a different style for different people. The pictures really do make it look awkwards to get in and out of the car but honestly it's not hard at all. Just different.

The japanese call it "Gullstyle" and it's the latest USDM crase to hit this season. Apart from the 240sx craise I don't know of any other USDM stuff they like.

The new Veilside S15 drift car has altezza lights.

I could sooo get a nice set of Tein FLEX's for $1400.

Whats the advantage of those doors anyway? It looks like it makes it hard to open the door and to get out. I don't know why anyone with an sr/ka-t with a strong suspension would wont these doors? If you go that far to make your car perform great on a track why would you weaken yourself with these doors?

Yeah, but Mike, most of the cars that you think look GOOD also have a bad ass engine and suspension to back it up. For instance, this dude in my town says he has over 20k in his civic. Which has a bare bone stock engine, shitty stock suspension and a nice paint job with converted tails (can't remember exactly what kind) and lambo doors. I don't know where he gets off thinking has 20k in it, but anyhow thats rice in my books.
