Hi... I spend hours researching and I cant find it so dont just point me towards the search button please.
Ive used 10-30w in my sr20 but I now have a 300wph ka24det.
I live in FL so heat does play a part in my car.
Which is the best oil? And Why? I use usually mobil 1 synthetic 10-30.
Also getting mixed facts about how much it holds after a filter change and oil drain, it says 3.7 everywhere but some places say the whole 5 ? WTF

^^10W30 Mobil 1 synthetic is fine so long as the motor is already broken in. If it's still in the ring-seating phase, use non-detergent, SAE 10W30 oil for 500mi, change & inspect the oil; drive another 1,000mi or, then switch to synthetic.
As far as how much it holds... Fill it to 'full' on the dipstick, run it at idle for a few, let it cool, check/fill it again until it's full... take note of how much you used ;)

I always use amsoil with my track 240sx (n/a ka24de). Least amount of oil into oil catch can compared to Mobile and Motul.

So like put 4 quarts let it idle for 5 mins let it sit for 1 hour then check the dipstick with the car on? or off? Thats the part I never really got.

I would recommend a oil with a high zinc content if its turbo charged.
Not Mobile 1.
Amsoil high zinc is great
Royal Purple XPR
Valvoline VR1 Racing
Joe Gibbs XP7 and XP8
Brad Penn 7119 or 7150
All these have a high zinc content.

You have a 300HP ka-t and don't even know how to do a basic oil change?

I know, right? I was laughing when he stated that. :picardfp:
On a stock KA oil pan, I would fill 3 quarts, check dip stick and then fill it and recheck until dip stick reach optimal level.
I could start the car and let it sit for 10 minutes. Check dip stick if it is still optimal level when hot.
