When I was watching it and how they said they were gonna be true...blah blah blah. It reminds me of all the bands who claim they won't sell out, but sell out in the end to make big bucks :fruit:

hehe its always funny when they make shows of drifting or some import car related shows..they sound soo stupid and gay when they try to seem that they know what they are talking about..

after watching the preview i actually think itll be an okay show. they interviewed guys from d1 (alex pfiffer) and showed a lot of d1 footage with american (team rotara, alex, the grey supra) and japanese drivers (monkeyman :D, ueo). i think the show will last for 4 or so episodes and then die out. It wont be how it "really" is and the anouncer is gonna be a dumbass. The people being interviewed should be good though.

I'm in the video!

About 2:10 into the video, you can see my friend and I posing with a driver (I forget his name, but he was out of the competition due to car problems)

I should sue!

too late, hehe. I know of atleast 7 teenage brats that sold thier hondas to get s13 240 hatches.. (always the hatch, its doomed!!!)

I dont remember if import drag ever got this kinda support when it came out? Eventually commercializing the drift scene will have is consequences, like that guy drifting a F450 on the street... lol.. cant wait till some civic understeers into my car parked on the street.. Eventually they will relate drift to how it started out as illegal racing on mountains, and eventually used the term Touge, which by then kids will be influenced to go do it on the streets.

I actually wouldnt mind seeing performance how-tos, and build ups, like on FCs and stuff, not all just 240 this and 240 that (mainly the hatches since they are the hot trend =( .

i don't think its a "drift" tv show per se. They said they're using drifting as a backdrop to talk about the import scene. They're still talking about ghey car shows, show cars, models, and a "behind the scenes" look at working for a ghey import mag.

But hey, i'm glad there are SOME drift action. and the entire interviewing Japanese drivers and US drifters is pretty cool idea, i think.

hmm, sounds like a good time to sell my S14. you can get a good price for 240s these days seeing as they are the new "civic" of the import scene.

PS, i'm sure the show will suck bawls and no i won't watch it, i don't have cable no mo, haha.

Ya new "civics" of the import scene that no one can find... I see maybe one s14 a week compared to the 5+ civic hatchbacks I see a day. And most of the time the s14 is stock as fuck.

alex always reminded me of Richard D James (Aphex Twin) when i saw him about 4 years ago.

anyways, its great to see action footage of drift events, but the thing is how other people are going to view it. For me its going to be cool to watch and something my dad can understand than to read subtitles on my option vids. Its just a show, you can't stop it, so deal with it or just don't watch it.

i know of a LOT of kids that have traded thier civics and integras in for 240s. and 240s are hard to find? i see shit loads of them, everywhere. the 240 is the new "in" car to be building up. the new bandwagon car. i like my S14, but it's not the best car i've owned. kinda sucks compared to my 7. seems like a good time to sell my S14 as prices are really good for sellers now with all the bandwagon jumpers and ricer paying out the ass for em.($3k for an S13? i think not). you really can't escape the trend, most of the cars you see in magazines and shit are 240s now. it's the trendy car to build now. nothing really wrong with that, it just is.

we all knew where drifitng was going last year the year b4 the year b4 that ect but its like everything else thats "COOL" it will be come popular and the "In thing to do" everyone and their grandma owns a 240 now... but then everyone and their grandma owns a honda too.. anything RWD is the new bandwagon but people doign all that sideshow bs have been into RWD b4 alot of ppl on this forum muscle guys are pretty much only RWD so i mean RWD cars are just normal but kids pulling ebrakes around corners thinking its a drift.. thats just sad. Honda had its time when everyone was into show cars like 5-6 years ago then Honda just has a bad rep now cuz of "ricers" but its also opinion to. But now seing a riced out honda is old news its what ever, people are looking for something different thats where nissan and 240's come in with the rest of the rwd cars it will get a bad rep of some sort some media will blow it out of preportion to make a quick buck aftermarket companies will eat it up like crazy cuz its money(90% of people sell out sometime) its just our time lol. I mean how do u think hardcore 86 guys feel when 13 year old kids say initial D or drift! its almost embarasing and gehtto ass people just say "SWIINNNGGG IT" so i mean take ur pick look at it how u want to but if u guys are just realizing this ur slow :bigok:

Things come and go, and some things never leave. Hard core enthusiast like Poopra(tt.net joke) guys were around b4 fast and the furious and their still there even tho the scene blew up cuz of a retarted movie and everyone wanted a supra and prices went up like 5-10k. But its a phase for most because it has come and gone, everyone knows that a 2jz has unreal potential. Also Skylines, motorex spent $$$ because everyone wanted one, how many do u actually think they are selling now? not half as much as when they first started. Everyone wants a skyline but its not practical for most. So that has come and gone. music, altezza lights(not fucking euro lights came off a jdm car), fashion, AND cars! i dont even know if these post are 100% relevant to this thread i only read bits and pieces from peoples post(been awake for more then 24horus) iono drifting will die out, touge will die out. IT WILL still be around. but in 5-10 years do u still think it will be the BIG thing?

oh and to reply to hawd, do the math how many hatchbacks to u think were produced compared to s14's? id say atleast 1 240 for ever 5 hatchback and thats just talking about 1 model hatchback like EF,EG,EK if ur just talking about hatchback in general id say 10:1

Ill admit, back in the day (late 90's) I was a kid but I liked hondas, I wanted a honda, all of em where clean, there was no "assclown", not that many people knew about hondas yet, untill early 2000s where everybody and thier mom wanted em and started ricing them out.. How embaressing would it be to get your racing parts from pep boys?? ahah. Ever see somebody with a car and you can see thier neon light tube underneath sticking out the side like its a sideskirt?? hahah see thats funny, who told this person that its suppose to be like that?? haha

I just think its bad how america can be soo easily influenced.. Pretty much to be a company, you can create demand on your item, just show people something, put some sex appeal in it, and bam your rich.

they're just trying to tap into the cash.

then they will find out that most people into drifting are cheap low-ballers. :)

then they will tap into another sport.

thats the name of the game.

That's my whole point. How can something be like a civic without civic production? Ya sure the demand is there, but how many poeple are actually paitient and willing to pay top dollar for a hard to find car. Thats when alot of people give up and get s13's sorry to say. Easier to find and cheaper. I myself got lucky and have another s14 lined up after totally fucking up my first one, but I'm ending up paying more. The car itself is in great fucking condition with 90k miles on it with outstanding exterior and interior so I'm willing to pay good money for a car that I plan on keeping for a long ass time.

PS: its Modified Magazine (I believe) that is putting on the show. Modified usually has some really good cars (not riced out crap), so it should be OK. I'm not a huge fan of this whole "jumping onto the bandwagon" thing, but thats life. If something is a success, then everyone will try to copy it.

But, I'm definately curious. Its not all about drifting, but it does have a lot of drifting action in it (from what I read). Basically the import scene is heavy into show cars and drifting... import drag racing doesn't get a lot of credit (my theory is that there is a big market for drag racing the old way with a big v8 and a blower. there is enough circuit racing to satisfy just about everyone. this "import" drift scene is a perfect showcase for these "import" cars).
