View Full Version : speed sensor failure
oooook so, i have an automatic ka and the trannys been making this crazy whining noise and slipping out of gear. i did the ecu self diagnostic and all it gave me was a speed sensor failure. could that be the reason the transmission is being retarded? its almost undriveable. after a few minutes it'll just rev real high and not engage gears and i have to pull over and restart it and it'll be good for another few minutes. yes i know, get a 5 spd. im working on that but right now i'm a broke loser and i really need to fix this crap right now, real cheap, if not no cost.
Again my main point, could this be because of the speed sensor? Thanks

It won't shift properly without a Speed Signal.
But it might/should work if you shift it manually from 1st to 2nd then Drive.
ok so i just drove it home from my sisters place, it seems to hesitate shifting into 2nd, then when it goes to shift to 3rd it just disengages completely. im gonna jack it up and check the sensor. any advice would be helpful.

Speed sensor went it on my wife's auto s14, and it still shifted fine. Just no Speedo. Idk if yours is s13 or s14, but s14 auto speed sensors are around 200 bucks... At least they were when I was looking
s13. im just going to replace the whole transmission. if i could find one. not enough money to swap, so ill stay automatic. i just cant find one -__-
