View Full Version : Ka IACV removal

Just bought a spare ka to build for my turbo. I want to clean up some of the emissions and other stuff. The iacv is the most complicated, ugliest thing i've ever seen on a motor. The one on my new motor is all hacked up so it's pretty much trash. The one in the car works but the rpm hangs for a second which its pretty annoying. Anyway i've been reading a lot about just completely removing it, but i can't find anything about how it will affect the a/c. I use the a/c like 90% of the time. Only time i don't use it is sometimes at night, at the track, or if it gets cool in the winter. I figure'd i could just adjust the idle to be like 800rpm with the a/c on, but then i worry that if i were to turn it off the idle would increase too much and be over 1000. Anyone have input on this? Thanks.

Good luck getting it to idle worth a damn...it's all the way behind the motor! Unless you have a lexan firewall it will never be seen lol...pull it apart, clean off any carbon, put back together, ride off into the sunset

I realiZe that cold idle won't be nice, but when it's hot it should be fine. I worry about how it's going to react to seeing 20 lbs of boost regularly though.

You might want to go ask this question over on KA-T.org - The Home of 1000+ whp/7 sec Turbo KA's (http://www.ka-t.org), some remove it, most keep it from what I have seen over there. Its ugly but unless you are looking for it, most people never will notice it.

I registered there a few days ago and no one will authorize my account so i can't post new threads.
I figure for a low boost setup on a stock motor it would be stupid to get rid of it. But i worry about how it will handle the low compression and high boost pressures. I was thinking it might not like it, unless you can adjust it with the tune....

Yeah got no input on that as its not something I have had to deal with yet. This might also help if you haven't seen it. http://zilvia.net/f/engine-tech/62609-ka24det-faq.html

My new manifold even has a flange welded to it if that gives you an idea of how I feel about not using it...I'm also running ac trust me I have done both ways and you def want it....even with a decent stand alone its still a pita to get it to idle and not jump when ac is on
