navan valance double tape removal

Hey, I was just curious on some methods in removing 3m outdoor double sided tape off the body? I know that heat gun works pretty good but wanted to see what other people did. Im hoping to paint my navan valance soon so probably need to remove it.

peel as much of it off as you can and then apply alcohol or goo gone or similar to remove the remnant adhesive.
or a bucket of hot, soapy water and scrub til it comes off

I usually use a blow drier to soften the tape up and pull the piece back a little. Then I carefully use a razor blade to cut the foamy double sided tape until the piece can be removed. Then use goo off or something similar to get the adhesive off.
