so i have a cxracing FMIC, FWIW
now, a year ago my friend installed it ( i had zero knowledge then)
he cut off this piece right here, saying that it was useless and probably for the KA motor or just another place for the BOV.

now, after i've looked at a few install pics, i noticed there was hose connected to that piece
so what is this for, and was my friend wrong in sealing it off? i should note i have an idle issue, but im not too sure if thats the problem (running a kouki maf, idles fine at cold, gets higher/fluctuates between 1.5-2k when warmed up, sometimes constant 2k)

Is this on an S13 SR?
If so that is where the IACV connects. If the IACV is open to atmosphere on a MAF system, its the same as a vacuum leak.

You don't need it unless you are using the iacv/cold start valve, I have mine all deleted and replaced my pipe like that on my rb with a solid one.
I'd look at the idle air control valve and make sure it's even hooked up. If it isn't set the idle screw on your throttle higher, mines set at 950rpms. Make sure the iacv is capped off or spot plated up as well for time being. As far as the pipe, If it's hacked off and jb welded or other b.s up just get a new one and redo the iacv System. The car will work fine without it long as idle screw is set ok, just dont go wot high rpm and toss it in neutral it'll stall more than likely.

On a S14 motor that piece is where a BOV connects.

What BOV do u have that connects to that tiny ass nipple.
That's used for the IACV under the intake manifold. Car usually, not always, runs like ass without that hooked up and the screw set for your idle.
I cut mine off, welded the hole closed, then drilled a hole underneath the pipe and had the nipple facing the motor. Just made it easier to install and the hose wasn't as long and wasn't visible.

Ya that part that is circled in the pic in red should be iacv you need a pre throttle body port big enough to supply the cold valve and iacv.
Just buy a new pipe the intire diy piping kit from them can be had for $90 shipped in 2", 2.5" and 3". My 3" set was $100 but I got mine in black.

The part that is circled is for a BOV for an S14 motor. Not sure on the S13. But that is a cold pipe for the S14 motor. There is another nipple on there that is bigger than the vacuum lines but smaller than that one circled and that is used for the IACV.

Not sure what you're thinking, but the big elbow pipw circled in the OP's picture is for s14 stock bov's. The IACV elbow, which is similiar, on s13 cold pipes faces the opposite way.
Just to get this straight, The cold pipe is for a s14 motor.
