has anyone put a vq37vhr motor out of a 370z into a 240 yet or has anyone heard of it and if it can be done.

Absolutely impossible. Could never happen

Why not? you can do it they sell swap mounts you would need the gearbox with it as well and i think you need a custom driveshaft. As far as the ecu goes thats where it will get expensive and tricky your best bet is to run a standalone and convert the throttle to cable driven or find a ems that supports dbw.

Cannot be done. The laws of physics forbid it.
No man on this planet has ever successfully taken an engine from one vehicle, fabbed up mounts and a driveshaft and then put that engine in a different chassis.

Let alone build custom wiring to make it work.

The problem is that the vq37's are too tall to fit in the engine bay. You would have to modify the oil pan and crossemeber significantly and even then you might have to modify the hood to clear. The VQ35HR's have similar issues, to a lesser extent.
The bottom line is that if you have to ask this question you might as well forget about it...

You would make history dood! DO IT. Don't let these guys sway you from making Nissan history! Vq37 into a s14!? holy shit man! Could you imagine what people would say and do, following your steps?! You will end up with a build thread that gets passed around all the forums and get over 9999 views!!!!!
If you build it, they will come!
Oh yeah, in case YOU need some help with that unicorn of a motor swap, here's a pic of a vq in a s chassis. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s195/rsprime1/240VQ.jpg

might as well just throw a stroked vq35 in there since you can buy everything for the swap already

Sarcasm.... The wiring harness is like a grand, and you need the dash harness for your gauges to work. Isn't worth the money. Its been done, still isn't worth the reward of spending 6K minimum for under 300hp

yup. for around 6 grand, might as well go with LSX...

I call BS. the wiring is pretty simple if you re-flash the ECU to eliminate the NATS and BCM. I can do it myself. For the guages you can just run a subharness or use aftermarket units. You can get a complete VQ35DE/REV-UP motorset for $1000-$1500. With a few bolt-ons and a tune there's no reason you couldn't put 300hp to the wheels. If you figure out the EVAP/fuel system you can even do it CARB legally as well.
It would cost you $5k-$6k to get that kind of HP out of an SR and the VQ would be 10000000000x more reliable. You couldn't do a LS1 swap for anywhere near that amount.

i have helped put a VQ in a buddies car. it was interesting to help with. you can build up a mighty bill for most of the parts you need. He also has switched the motor out to go with an RB25. so i would look into doing the correct swap for you before spending thousands of dollars on something.
best of luck ,

You CANT GET a VQ37 motorset for fucking $1500. A VQ37 has a completely different wiring setup than a 35.
I'm speaking from past experiences trying to swap a 37 into a 03 350Z. May not need the dash harness in a 240. The wiring is 100% different than a VQ35.
The wiring was $800 for that swap. Plus the cost of the added sensors and sourcing a dash harness for factory gauges to work.
Please link me where that motor can be had for 1500. Never seen one for under 3K with the harness, trans, accessories.

Who said you could get a VQ37 motorset for $1500???
I said you could get a VQ35DE/REV-UP for that price...
Next time spend a little more time reading.
If you were speaking about a VQ37 in your post then why would you say it has less than 300hp?

The guy asked about that specific engine so I would assume he knew what engine I was talking about.
Pretty positive that it has around 280whp.

The VR38 has already been swapped why couldn't the 370z motor? Hope you have some money or know exactly what you are doing.

Also why? Seems like a pita for 300whp.

You didn't say "whp" in your post, you said "hp". The VQ37 is rated at somewhere around 330hp, whp depends on a lot of variables.
I was referring to VQ swaps in general beacuse the VQ37 swap just makes no sense to me. Once you factor in cost, complication, hp, engine bay fitment, and engine availability the 37 is non-sensical IMO.

cid x rpm / 3456 = CFM * pressure ratio * .069 = lb/min (standardized volume->mass)
example
122x7000/3456 = 247CFM * (2.0) .069 = 34.1lb/min (340 horsepower at the crankshaft)
That says an SR20DET at 7,000 rpm with 15psi of boost should produce 340 BHP. Subtract 12-15% for drivetrain losses: (340 * .87) = 29.66lb/min (296 RWHP) At 100% Volumetric efficiency
Here is a dyno of this exact situation (Except only 12-13psi of boost so slightly less power)

Stick with the KA.
why would you want to swap the motor, this isnt a honda...

Since when did people start swapping motors in to 240's? :faint::naughtyd:
