just what it says,
i personally like to jack up the car at the sides up front (2 jacks/with jackstands) instead of jackin at the crossmember (too low, need ramps)
so, which is safer/more prefered? just thought would be interesting to see safety reasons if there are any. 2 jacks better than 1, right?

if you can afford 2 jacks, i guess, but its not necessary. I've been jacking it up at the pinch weld under the door, at the very front where it meets the fender. this is the recommended jacking point, but that sheet metal is getting bent up from not using and attachment to fit over the "lip". Jack up one side, put up jack stand, go to other side and do the same. No use in buying two jacks.
Best way to jack up the car is to drive up onto ramps, then jack up at the crossmember. Its the strongest part of the front of the car, and you have all the space you need to put your jack stands up at the pinch welds.

I drive up on 2 2x4 blocks, then place a stack of 3 2x4 blocks, then use the jack on the tow hook in the front, place more blocks under each wheel, then jack up at the frame and place jackstands somewhere where they won't be in the way for the day. I would definitely always support the car with jackstands or have the front wheels sitting on something, being under your car held up by just a jack isn't too safe.

I use that big flared nut thing that the toe rods bolt to in the rear, and the frame rails in the front, one floor jack, and I put the frame rails up on jackstands.
sometimes I just use the factory jack to get it up high enough, with my suspension I have to park the front on blocks, thats why I use that nut in the rear, it gives me plenty of clearance.

I hope no one reading this board is stupid enough to get under a car without jackstands. It should be common sense that you NEVER work under a car supported by a hydraulic jack.

if your car is lowered, you might want to try this...this is what i do since i have an older jack and its larger (taller)
i turn the wheels all the way to one side and slide the jack throught the wheel well and under the front crossmember and it seems as if it gives me more room to play with the jack there...for the rear i just put a board on my jack and put it on the pumpkin...

to jack up the car. i roll on top of whatever i find laying around brick, 2x4, whatever. then jack the car at the crossmember. i usually place the jack stands at the tension rod bushings or tow hooks. when i jack it up from the rear, i use the differential as the lift point.

Check out the ProTech low profile jack ramps....at the bottom of the page

I use these on my lowered S14. Makes it a lot easier to jack my car up from the crossmember. If your local to Burbank, CA you can drive in & pick them up. Just make sure to call first.
Or if you don't like those, then you can check out the floor jack adapter

Or the soft lifter jack pad

Anyhow, hope this what you are looking for.

Why spend $60 for those ramps when you can make your own for 1/3 the cost: http://240sx.cubicdesign.com/article3.php
NOTE: The last step you see (with the white wood piece) were removed
because there just isn't enough sitting room. I removed the top most step
in those pics, and put a 2" stop block at the end.
Ghetto but it works like a charm. :D
As for jacks, for anyone, really consider those low profile, speedy jacks. The 3-ton ones where it will
raise like 6" with just one pump. Too bad those go for around $250CAD where I live :(

i drive my s14 onto two ramps and jack it up by the crossmember. then i put two jackstands by the areas it tells you to in the FSM and leave the ramps in place (just in case, tho i doubt they would do anything if it fell). i shake the car while its on the stands to make sure its not going anywhere. i have to turn the jacks sideways though b/c the ramps are usually in the way.

:fawkd: Not everyone is that rich.
I just use the crossmember, the front bumper bends just a little when i jack it up but not near enough to break it. I've hit squirrels that bend it more.

Make sure that you check to see that you have put the jack in the right spots, and don't have your friend do it either. I made that mistake. Then I had a jackstand through my floorboard. This was on my Integra. It sucked, I had to seam weld the whole thing and seal it, I can feel the car shaking when i put my feet on the floor. My friend was an idiot though, I made him fix it...
