I'm curious, how many 240 owners will continue to give us a bad rep and act like fools on the public roads?
I cant even grasp how this guy managed to lose control at this particular section of the snake - its fucking STRAIGHT. My hunch is that he attempted to come out of the corner sliding, then lost it by over-correcting.
So... who's the local green horn?

This is what fucking pisses me off. I'm not a fucking drift nut or a fucking street racer...I just love S13s for the nostalgia. Assholes like this are the reason why I spend HOURS on Craigslist and forums trying to find an S13 that isn't salvaged or fucking bondo'd and primer'd. Take this fucking guy's license away.
I shouldn't have to look through EVERY county in 3 different neighboring states to yield only 3 decent S13s from my searches.

Not defending him, but maybe something broke? There was no clarification in the video or comments as to anyone asking the guy what happened so it appears to all be assumptions. But I guess we will get our answers once it is on Jalopnik.

For those unaware of this road, its a section of Mulholland that is heavily used by bikes and cars. Over the years, its increased in popularity to the point where a camera crew hangs out and captures photos and video of passer-byes.

SOOOOOO good thing he hit the wall and not all the bikes parked on the side of the road.
That video with all the expensive cars driving by was kinda boring. No offense but you can see that stuff just sitting outside of south coast plaza or Newport fashion island. I would rather see them driving them a little harder.
And all those Audi r8s could have been as cool as a bunch of brightly colored Toyota Prius'.
Yeah that guy was pretty lame though.

Maybe somebody cut him off? He braked hard on the hill and lost control? Could happen to any responsible driver.
Just sayin' - try and reserve judgement.
This could have been any one of us coming home after a grocery getting run.
Then again, Mulholland.... LOL
So who knows, but let's give the poor sucker the benefit! :D

Seriously. People crashing isn't what gives s chassis owners a bad name. It's the keyboard warriors on this forum constantly flaming everyone at every opportunity they get. If you never get it wrong and put the car into a wall or a ditch you're probably not getting any better/faster.

Exactly this whole thread is about judging someone based on the sliver of a clip with no before or after information. It is not like that bmw cliff dive video where you have a complete video of the wreck. Reserve the judgement until its confirmed "yeah I clutch kicked trying to drift and climbed the hill" or something along those lines.

Maybe thats OK in your book, but not in mine. You want to get faster? Sign up for an autocross or track event. And this is coming from someone who's done PLENTY of stupid shit on the streets and has never put my car into a ditch/wall/other car/etc.
If you're putting your car into a ditch/wall, you're doing it wrong.

Why?
Why cant we make fun of him for being an idiot? He lost control, too bad for him. Chalk it up as a lesson learned and fuckin quit trying to be Takumi when driving through the streets of LA.
Whats with you fucking pussies who need to save their judgment for viewing the video in its entirety?

You guys obviously don't know that road at all. Where he crashed was coming out of a left hand hairpin, going up-hill. If you watch at the very beginning of the clip you'll see the car suddenly snap to the right. He was "drifting" off the exit of the corner and the car snapped back on him. That's the only way for that to happen. He was almost certainly showing off because that's a very popular spot for people to stop, as you can see in the video. The bottom line is that you shouldn't be doing that there, especially during the daytime with cameras present. Take it to the track, do it responsibly. The driver was CERTAINLY a jackass and CERTAINLY made a small mistake with big consequences. I've been a canyon guy in the past, I learned the hard way what happens when you REALLY push it in the canyons. It is irresponsible to do what he did and he absolutely deserved what he got, including the flaming.

I have driven that road once or twice, it is also a pretty lame road to drive with how popular it is now, too many people, too many cops, too much to go wrong. But I also know that it is possible for something to snap on these cars causing accidents, seen it enough times at the track to know it is possible. I am not saying he was not being an idiot but I am saying where is the proof besides people "knowing the road" because that is the explanation I keep hearing.
Ixfxi yeah I like to know all the details about something before I condemn someone, so what?
EDIT: Also not saying this type of driving should not be reserved for the track, that is why tracks exist after all, just thought I would clarify incase people think I am defending driving like an idiot in public.

No bro, they're too poor to even buy decent track brakes on stock calipers. It's the street, bro. Free to drive anywhere, bro. THIS IS 'MERICA!:tardrim:
My 240sx is a trackcar, but even I have a budget. I'd rather use the money on good brakes, fire safety, and a roll cage than an SR20. =/

OK it looks like judgement has been served! Yeah, it seems clear now that that a lot of asshat's think it's cool to go fast in, crash out around that corner!
Anyways, this thread started talking about some S-chassis owner's giving us all a bad name. Recently, in BC Canada, this happened:
Convoy of Modified Nissan 240SX Impounded on BC highway (http://www.beyond.ca/convoy-modified-nissan-240sx-impounded-bc-highway/27091.html)
I'm not surprised. Here in Canada so many people speed and the cops can't really do anything about it, except to hand out tickets. Still, when this goes front page news, it's not good for our scene.
In BC, they still have a few race tracks. Not like here in southern Alberta! :(
The "take it to the track" mantra doesn't work anymore since that option was taken away from us. It's getting harder to find a legal place to play these days.
I can only see this kind of hooning getting more common in the next little while.

Everybody speeds... not just 240 owners. The article just so happens to catch a group of nissan owners. I wouldnt consider this a bad press, plus they are not hooning.
This thread is pointing out idiotic 240 owners drifting/showing off on public roads, in the day time, and getting caught on tape! That just adds gasoline to our reputation of 240 drivers drift fire.

If you check out youtube "Mulholland drive" youll see some amazing machines drive up and down that road. Thats why so many people post up there. Its not everyday you see a Bugattis, Moslers, Ferrari Lusso on the streets but if it is, you can likely catch them there.
Also theres famous hairpin spots like the OP's Vid where alot of people crash at.
