ouch. A headgasket is a serious repair for the inexperienced. My suggestion is:
#1 Verify you are dealing with a headgasket issue. Perform a proper leakdown test on all cylinders, as well as pressurize the cooling system with air (many ways to do this ask if you are unsure how) to trace the problem to the headgasket. You can also check under the radiator cap while the engine is running, a blown headgasket may show bubbles constantly forming from the radiator. You could likewise sometimes find a bit of coolant on the spark plugs, especially after pressuizing the coolant system.
#2 If you are certainly dealing with a headgasket, and you intend to repair it yourself, then you must have some level of experience and tools to deal with this problem. I would expect you to, anyways. Chances are you can simply replace the gasket after cleaning all applicable surfaces. Unless the engine was seriously overheated and the surfaces have warped. You would need to actually pull the head off and "straight edge" the surfaces to find out.
When it comes time to do this, use an OEM gasket from the nissan dealer for best results. Torque the bolts down in the sequence specified by the FSM.

I recently replaced my headgasket. It is not too hard as long as you have ample tools/ torque wrenches and time to take things slowly. It is tedious. I did not have my block and head machined bit I would recommend doing so. It costs much more in time and frustration than it does money.

Its not bad to do a head gasket, just make sure you take your time and double check steps especially if its your first time. Make sure you follow the fsm, the steps are pretty direct. The only problem with tearing down a motor is it tends to take longer then you expect especially when you take it apart you notice other thing that need to be replaced and you decide since your there already there are some upgrades that you all the sudden want to do.
I just moved from Moval too or else I'd give you a hand.

hehe. Well, I see that while I am in here, I may as well change the timing tensioner. Hmm might as well do the oil pump while im at it. Hmm front cover is coming off might as well change the pistons, rods, get the assembly balanced, heck lets knife edge the crankshaft- its only $150 more at that point. While we are in there, might as well install a high quality crank scrapper too. Also why not get a valve job, install some high quality ferrera hardware, some nice new springs, some higher performance camshafts, gosh while its all apart we might as well install a new clutch and a lightweight flywheel and a newer 1 piece driveshaft and a new center bearing, did I leave anything out? A new A/C compressor a higher output alternator an ATI damper- fuck rocker stoppers though. leave them bitches off. Id rather spend that money on a powder coated valvecover. Something just as functional hahahaa

yeah all I had to remove was the head since I never overheated the engine it started blowing white smoke after I swapped injectors with out replacing seals on them two od them got stuck and those were the ones who fucked up my gasket luckily I never drove it anywere so never over heated the engine it just started blowing white smoke and smell like intercooler so all I did was take of head found some kind of gum in the injector holes 1 and 2 cleaned it up well used these ruler thing to measure the head and block surface to be straight and cleaned both surfaces and applied a victor gasket from autozone so far I been good and drive her hard here and there and no problems yet and I hope none comeany time soon XD
