At what age does some one become an oldfart? lol

but since your about my age, i guess i would be an old fart, but then again i dont have a 240 anymore so i dont qualify as an oldfart with a 240 lol

And theres lots of them...

Bought my S14 in 2001 when I was 21, dailyed it until I almost died crashing it.
Got my S13 in 2004 with no engine/trans and in need of some stuff, then I dailyed IT from from 2005-2011...
...then my daughter was born and I bought a reasonable car, I might have put 3000 miles on my 240 in the almost 2 years since.

I'm kinda in the same boat as Phlip. Once my daughter was born it was down hill from there. I'll have mine up forsale soon, because there's no more time for it.

When it comes to age I might be in that phase where I start denying the fact that I'm getting older, but I still drive my 240sx around. This all may change when I have a kid(s).

I am at the point where if the right offer came, I would let it go, then turn and get a fun car that I could actually carry her around in.
I have actually been scouting prospects for that
Sucks too, because I finally got it painted last year

I dailyed mine from age 26-32...
then my daughter was born and I bought a reasonable car, I might have put 3000 miles on my 240 in the almost 2 years since.

I have put less than 4k miles on my car and its been 2 years since its rebuild. It just sits pretty on the side of my house. I assume yours does the same now

I'm turning 28 this year, married and with a 5 yr old. I still daily my 240, can't let it go. Last year I put about 15k miles, the year before that about 10k miles. I'm on my 3rd 240,

the first one I had to let go in 2003 because I wanted to have a ninja 636 and wanted to only pay insurance for one (I know, I didn't realize it was so cheap until after I sold the car)

The second 240 I sold because my son was born and 2 family cars were needed. Strapping my son in the back was not an easy job being that I'm 6'2 :) (also sold my beloved Ninja)

My 3rd one came along when my son turn 3, now 5yrs old and he loves riding in the front with me (of course, carseat and all) also had to upgrade one family car to a mk6 GTI :)

All in all, I'm glad I found this thread.... Glad to hear I'm not the only one

I'm more of an enthusiast now.... No more messing around in it like I did 10 yrs ago (excuse the long story)

I also have a 98 that is in the process of a full build.

Been on zilvia for almost 11 years.

Sold mine a few years ago now. Still kills me. I wish I had it.

My 09 Murano makes me miss it a little less though.

It's hard seeing such nice 240's though posted on FB though. Makes me want to go drop a few grand and pick up a nice clean stock one again.

I say take it to the track! I made the mistake of waiting till I was 40 to start. Wish I had started much younger. Us truly old farts still love driving them. I have a 91 SR20DET swapped hatch and my racing partner, who is a year older than I am (we've been friends since high school), won the SCCA SE division ITA championship in his 90 KA24E coupe.

So yea, you're never too old to enjoy a 240!

I'm 31 and still daily my streetable S13. (I refuse to drive my husband's '97 Avalon... Now that's an old fart car. -_-') Sadly my track S13 hasn't seen the light of day for the last 2.5 or so years. :( I usually save the Evo for weekends or for a good 'pick me up' when I need it.

BTW... Being in your 30's isn't really old... Think of what you'll be saying when you're 60. :P

I'll be 28 at the end of this year and have been daily driving a 240 for my entire driving life so far. Bought my S13 when I was 17 (same time I joined Zilvia, 2003), and my S14 when I was 22. Still driving and building the S14 daily.

It's been a very fun 10 years.

Ha...I think that's THE qualifier for "old timer" around here.

Amarok.org 240SX e-mail list...before forums, 56k was as good as it got, and we chatted 240SX stuff by group e-mail.

The good old days? haha...

...

On topic: I don't daily mine anymore - It racked up 100,000 miles from 1997 to 2004 as my DD...and has been a weekend car (HPDE, autocross) since.

I've had a S13 since high school. Test drove a few from the dealerships. Still remember that new car feeling.

Bought a "test" version of lowering springs from suspension techniques in 1990. Bought a NEW set of SSR EX-C fins in 1991. Was pretty tough to get parts back then. Took a while for the US market to fully embrace the S13/S14 aftermarket. Had to import stuff directly from Japan.

Owned 15 cars since then (4 of which were S13's). Still drive one every other day.

I am 40 now. So that makes it 2 decades. Wow how time flies. No plans to ever part with the S13. Maybe give it to my son if he wants it. :)

Caint hold a candle to that but, I'm the second owner of mine, bought her in the summer of '02. Joined this site and been lurking around shortly after. She gets less and less miles put on her every year...that kinda crap happens when one gets married and has a kid on the way.

2004 I got my first 240 at 18

Crashed it a couple of times trying to be a cool mountain racer.

2006 Sold it, bought a black 93 in Pacifica, turned out to be a rust bucket. Sold it a week later.

Used the money from selling the rust bucket to buy my favorite S13, it was a perfect super black hatch. Had it for a year before it was taken away from me (asshole MKIII Jetta crashed into it while it was parked)

2007 bought a modified shell swapped over parts from my favorite s13 and made it KA-T with my insurance money. Sold it after it kept blowing $350 ecus from Enthalpy because of a chassis short.

2008-2010 Messed with a bunch of shitty RWD i6 Toyotas

2011 bought a white 1992 with a S13 blacktop SR, sold it at the end of the year to pay for college. Daily drove an Integra for a year. Sold that Integra and bought an Accord wagon that I drove for a year.

2013 Flew to LA to buy and drive back home the S14 that I own, dd, and modify currently.

I've tried to get away. But I know in my heart that I love these cars. I can't find anything close to replacing it.

Oh well. I'm 32, everyone thinks I'm 24 when they see me, and I fully intend to stick to that as long as possible.

Hi all, my name is Lenn aka the guy who owns/designs DorkiDori. Ive owned a 240 since I was 19, Im now 31 and Im on my 5th one that is my daily driver/restoration project. Been on Zilvia since 2003 (I haven't used my old user name in 6-7 years). Ive been making/selling shirts since 2007 and for some odd reason I still have hope that one day the 240sx scene might go back to the way it was in the good ol days when it was trendy to build clean cars, wanting to be hellaflush wasn't the reason you bought a 240, V8s were blasphemy in an s-chassis and tuning your motor was the proper way to do things...

*snickers*

*bursts into maniacal fits of laughter at the idea of the 240 scene ever returning to the way we remember it being*

In my first car 1989 se hatch I had a car phone. Remember the ones with cords and big battery packs? Yeah that one. The scene has changed so many times I don't even care anymore. I just keep building 240s that I think are fun and look good to me. I can't post pics on here but I currently have a 89 hatch with s14 SR being built for amateur drifting and a 90 z32 na slammed that I daily.

42 but I look 32 and sometimes act as if going on 23. My 19 yr old son informed me recently that I am going to be a grandpa in January.

Still building & playing with my beloved rice-mobile.

I assume I qualify for the Old fart club; even though I would never admit it aloud :hide:

^congrats on the soon to be new family member! Anyways heres my pain in the arse.

I guess next year will be 10 years that I've had my S13. Doesn't seem like that long ago, but I guess it's been with me through a lot. Recently it suffered a fire at the track (grass fire... blew an oil pump o-ring and then it caught on fire shortly after we spun off - freaked my student out). That junkyard SR went through A LOT, and still ran great except for the original 20+ year old o-ring (it was an early redtop).

I'll be bringing it back better than ever in the near future. My goal is just to keep making incremental improvements to it, keeping it reliable, making it faster. It was already about the fastest thing out on track most weekends, and this includes crazy modded GTRs, 911 GT3s, old Busch series stock cars etc. - so I think with another 100-150 rwhp and more downforce, while dropping about 75 lbs it'll be that much nuttier.
