I have 10k that I have set aside to get a 1997/1998 240sx in white with a 5spd and have it be a SE/LE...however that is proving hard (6 months now and my last one that I had as a confirmed 'pick up today' was sold out from under me before I could drive up (sold Friday, I was to pick it up Sunday had a cashiers check ready in the guy's name)).
I see alot of 1995's at only $5k-6k with low mileage. They are OBDI cars which most of the turbo 'kits' can't work, but what's the cost to swap out the ECU and run a few sensors?
Basically I need a car...I don't have one now as I thought this would be an easy thing to buy.
Thanks
Chris

In socal, on autotrader.com, you see SR swapped s14 and s13s all day long for less then 10k

I could be mistaken, but from what I have found so far is all 1995's were sort of a combination of OBDI and OBDII with the later ones coming with the OBDII plug in port...however they still had different O2 sensors and the like....
I know the ones I have seen do not have the mess of piping around the manifold...I never knew to check for the OBDII port though...I haven't looked at many, the ones I saw were said to be 1996's and a few said to be 1997's (crooked sales people here).
I am just getting tired of looking for a freaking car now...it really sucks to have money in hand but nothing to buy plus no car.
Thanks

Buy a decent '96 (OBD II since that's an issue with you) for $5000-6500, then slap on a '97-98 front end if you must.
Hell, call it $6000 for a '96 SE, add paint (whole car $1800) and a front end from a '97-98 (maybe $1200 with new parts...?)...and you get $9000 for a '97-98 looking 240SX, then spend the other grand on suspension.

just buy yourself a 96 and get a kouki conversion it that is such a big deal to you.... At first when i was looking for my car i was also set on buy a kouki but after i got the zenki and sat there for a while looking at it I fell in love with it and never thought of getting a kouki s14.
