is this still an awesome deal?

an 89 SHELL? As in not running or no motor? Hell no. Not for 1000, that's for sure. I'm positive you can find better. I personally wouldn't buy a shell for anything more than 500 unless it's clean as hell.

Bought my 90 with a blown head gasket for $500+ essentially (Threw in more 'cause the previous owner, buddy, *just* had new tires and brakes put on before the BHG). AC and power windows/locks, and hardtop... body was in great condition and had aftermarket black meshies with a teeny bit of polished lip (front bumper cover had some chips though). A couple wasted headgasket jobs (which failed afterwards -- guess my head wasn't that flat afterall) and $400 later for a healthy sohc I can't regret anything (except for the head gasket jobs, I should have just swapped the first time instead of wasting all that time and energy).

Get it down to $500 and you've got a fair deal for both parties. Like creazian, I wouldn't pay more unless there was other proper justification (recent body/paint work, suspension/brakes/wheels/tires/etc).

They're probably a little harder to find in good shape in Canada though...

I'd still offer something lower than 1000 though. Try 500 if it's a hatch, 600 if it's a coupe. ;)

I would pay 600 max, and thats with a straight body
