So here's my dilemma. I have two hatches. One is my dd an 89 (paints shit but runs great nice wheels full suspension exhaust I love it) and I recently purchased a nice shell for a steal that I was planning to flip. It's a 91 LE. leather seats sunroof power everything. Motor is toasted fried piston and head is missing, and it's auto. Paints better than my dd, but it's bone stock. My plan was buy a used motor, drop in and flip. The money for the 91 was given to me by a friend that is currently incarcerated. If he beats case hell be out in July or so if not it'll be a few years. I told him if he wants ill use the money he has stashed to flip a car or two and when he gets out hell have more money than when he went in. He agreed, I bought car.

Now recently some of u have notice the price/availability of dual cams have skyrocketed (in my area at least) and I have been having a hard time sourcing one for a decent price. Where the car is located I can only have and work on for about a month (parents house). I work a full time job, and another part time job but weekends are free.

My question. In your opinion do I keep the 91 (chuki) sell my car and build the chuki. Or do I keep trying to find an engine and stick to the plan. I realize I can swap most of my parts on the pig nose to the chuki and sell it as stock but ill be stuck with a car that looks great and doesn't run. And won't get as much for it. I'm kinda stuck on what I should do. I don't want my buddy to get out and be broke and worse off than when he went in, but also I wanted to flip the car not only to benefit him financially but me as we'll... I'm just looking for honest opinions. If you just wanna talk shit take it elsewhere please. Thanks!

personally id keep the second car and use it for parts for anything you need on your dd, and just part out all the other parts. itll take some time but in the end youll probably end up making more money from the part out than what you spent on the car itself.. when its al stripped sell the shell for 400 and bam! problem solved!

I was thinking of going that option too. There's not too many parts on it that need for my car tho. I mean I got it for 500 as it sits so I kno I can make money either way... Just which would be most profitable/ time efficient is the dilemma. Thanks for the input :)

Why does the OP's story remind me of this...

Swap most of your stuff over to the nice shell. Then either part out or sell shell with all parts for a few hundred more. Not really gonna make out like a bandit, but you'll have a nicer car.

yeah well in that case itll all be in time when you make your moola on the spare but id do up the cleaner car and slowly get rid of the other parts and shell. with all the problems that occur on these cars im sure that there is a buyer for the randomest parts that you already own and no problem!:w00t:

Swap a good motor into the '91, convert to 5spd and sell. If the paint is in good condition and its otherwise bone stock, you will make a profit.

I would try and source a motor for the chuki and build that sucker up instead.

You don't a deadline so just keep searching. There are tons of forums, craigslist, and even a few groups on facebook that you are bound to find something on.

Update: found a motor for a good price thanks to a member here. Problem is (not really a problem) my buddy is gonna be possibly getting out next week... And I don't need him broke with nowhere to go... So I gotta decide which one to sell. Motor should b here tues. if he gets out its gonna be wed or Thursday... I dunno what to do lol. I've had my piggy for a long time, and before that it belonged to another friend. Kinda wanna keep it in the family. So do I choose sentimental or profit...
