Lug nuts and 20mm wheel spacers?

Atm i have 60mm Circut Sports extended wheel studs. I have 20mm H&R wheel spacers kicking around that i would like to throw on. problem is when i put on the spacer and put on the wheel and go to torque down the wheel the lug nuts strip out. I am currently using CECO "Tuner Lug nuts". Anybody else have a solution to this problem? Buy a specific or better pair of lug nuts or what?

Any steel lug nuts should be fine. Don't get aluminum ones. They suck. Muteki SR48s are good. Oh yeah, make sure you get 12x1.25 and open ended I guess, maybe that's why they weren't working?

Well theres no way the lug nuts are bottoming out. They just strip out the bottome portion of the lugnut. Its a really big pain in the ass :( maybie im not torqueing the properly?

Torque on a 240sx or most nissan cars is 85-90lbs. Make sure when you are putting the lugs on by hand first you have 6-8 full turns before it touches wheel/gets tight with finger turning. If you only are getting 3-4 then yes you need to either remove spacers or get smaller ones.

I know being 18 and all, but you really need to use some common sense or even some *gasp* math.

I can't tell unless you have video, but possibilities are:

1) Lug nut thread is not matching with thread on wheel studs.
2) Wheel stud too short, not enough thread.
3) Wheel stud too long, not enough threading on lug nut.

If all else fails, either:
1) Ask a dad or uncle for help
2) Take it to a shop and they'll "edumacate" you for a price.

Well now the funny thing is i bought the wheels, and the spacers of a buddy of mine. he ran them with the 20mm spacers with circut sports 60mm studs with no problems. and for the lug nuts i am using the correct lug nuts as they are 12x1.25 shops can get bent they feed me useless info and tell me shits bad when it isnt. Im a apprentice heavy dutie mechanic so im fairly mechanicly inclined, so i can tell if i am useing the right lug nuts or if they are bad etc. My father isnt that bright with these cars as he is more of a old school fellow and my uncle is the same way lmao.

You're definition of "old school" seems off. Old School mechanics know wheel studs and spacers for a very long time.

That didnt help at all. Btw lug nuts thread on no problem when i dont run the spacers. no issues what so ever.

Are the lug nuts open or closed ended?

If they are closed, then its possible they are bottoming out, as you continue to torque them down, the lug cannot move any further down the stud, stripping out the threads.

If they are open ended, they must be bad quality to be stripping at ~85 lb-ft.

Theres no way there stripping out because i run them without the spacer with no problems.

How about you shut the fuck up, stop trying to put aluminum lug nuts on and buy some harder metal based lug nuts? They're not stripping without the spacers because you're using all the threads dumb ass.

You know what, fuck, better yet, slap the spacers on, use those spacers and torque them good and tight.

The lug nuts arnt aluminum to begin with. And if you read the comments above you would have notice the person said that i was using all the thread in which i am not... now you should shut the fuck up and learn how to read

Numbnuts, the threads are probably tappered or partially stripped off at the bottom of the lug nuts so they're not bitting all the way with the spacers on. Either way, get some different lug nuts dumbass...

Maybe your real studs are hitting the back of your wheel after you bolt on the spacers, so they aren't able to thread onto the spacers' studs all the way. Do your wheels have that space in the back like this for the old studs?

No, not with 60mm studs. I have the same setup on my fronts, I'm running Nismo studs with 20mm spacers but using short open ended muteki lugs, never had any stripping issue. I've been tracking my car on the same studs, wheels and lug nuts for the last 3-4 yrs with no issue. I use a 4-way to tighten my lug nuts and have even used my electric impac on it them at the track. Thats why I'm saying, use a different set of lug nuts.

But at the same time, he is using Circuit Sports studs. I wouldnt be surprised if its the stud got semi stripped at the top so the lugs isnt biting on it.

Studs are not stripped. but im buying GM studs to solve my problem there considerably longer
