I have to write a final research paper for the semester on any topic related to global sustainability for my ENG107 class. I have decided to detail the relations between Japan's strict emission control standards and the United States' import scene.

I'm sure we are all aware of the laws that allow us to import lower mileage engines from overseas, but i was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of any definitive sites that detail emission standards and maybe even show specific laws.

Yes, i have researched a bit on my own, and yes i do know how to use google, but it seems that i can only find general information on how japan's standards are "stricter" than ours. Anyways, i figured i would take a shot in the dark and see if someone else may have some info or had previously researched this topic.

I appreciate all the help in advance. :bigok:

sorry, no real info, just a tip, try searching official government sites. and emissions laws are different everywhere you should just pick a location and use that for reference, like your local county/state laws or california because they are the most strict. also, since when is an SR legal?

also, since when is an SR legal?

laws, as in those in japan stating an engine needs to be checked for emissions every xx,000 miles etc. Not domestic laws.

but SR's are legal down here in FL :fawkd:
