hello everyone i just bought my first 96' s14 today that is very clean. The only problem is that the transmission is doing and wining sound kinda like a wind-up toy when the clutch is engaged put in first gear. I would like to change the clutch or rebuild the trans or get another one. the guy i bought it from doesnt seems to know much about it so..plz help. So first question, the car has an s14 or s15 sr20 how can you tell the difference? the other is i believe the guy said it had a 5 speed jdm trans but not sure; how can i tell difference and are the usdm and jdm trans the same and interchangeable as well as the clutches for the trans. Hope it all makes sense. thanks everyone in advance and cant wait to take the car out and run it hard! sorry if repost

Congrats on the car, but first thing is first read up on the different types of SR20's
S15 came 6 speed while S13 and S14 sr came 5 speed.
Next you will want to do all the maintance things first, Oil, trans fluids, spark plugs, diff fluids, check your brakes, tires, etc...

Search around and read up!

My advise I tell everyone is get your car running right first before you start to upgrade.
It is better to start with a soild base than to try to diagnose stuff along the way.

Good luck!

Also, make one concise organized thread asking questions. Do not post the same questions in multiple locations, that's a good way to get flamed and/or possible pinking.

As stated, please read around and do your research. Every question you've asked in your post has been answered before. Use the search feature and read through the material that it generates for you.

Not to be a dick, but this post was not necessary...
