i know i change mine , a year later it went out again , i bought another off ebay for about $30 , then decided to not even change it .
the resistance of a working knock sensor is 500,000 - 620,000 ohms , i went to radio shack and bought a 560,000 resistor , cut the wires between the sensor and ecm , soldered the resistor across the 2 wires going to the ecm , taped it up , then taped everything up so it looks normal , can't tell the resistor is there . runs great , knock sensors are a pain to change .
i have a 98 240 , automatic , greddy cb , injen cold air , underdrive pully , run 87 oct gas , i guess if someone had a turbo with high boost and gets spark knock the resistor would be a bad idea.
or just buy the $30 sensor , i doubt if there is any big difference .

And to Dagostino don't do the resistor thing, buy the cheap one if you want to save money, they are still better then faking out your ECU. Remember you get what you paid for and the more expensive one might have a better warranty.
