I've done some quick searching and found nothing definative.
I have a lead on z32 n/a output shafts and pre-95 j30 Diff (EDIT) .
both 5-bolt flanges, but are the z32 n/a and pre-95 j30 output shafts the same?
can anyone confirm?
Thanks.

Some, if not all, NA Z32 have a sensor gear (dont know what to call it) for 4 channel ABS, but that doesnt really matter. What matters is that they are 5 bolt like the early J30 output shafts and dont bolt in so I dont think you would want them.

but if I'm using early j30 diff, i.e. pre-95, why would I not want them?

Wait are you talking about the axles? Dont say "output shafts" say axles.
300zx axles are too long, you need j30 ones or 6 bolt output flanges. You can have your 240sx output flanges machined down to fit.
