I'm creating this thread to get opinions on rhd conversions from people who have done them.
I am contemplating on converting my kouki to rhd, all my friends are telling me that its too clean and I shouldn't hack it up.
http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb466/zbarsuglia/C99C07E8-44D5-47CD-9A41-1674AF6A56C1-12973-0000075D526C655E.jpg
http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb466/zbarsuglia/Zaks-Kouki-3-of-13.jpg
I drove my friends silvia coupe for about a week and fell in love with not only driving on the right side, but all the reactions I got from the public. Guess that makes me an attention whore? lol
I have a rhd clip that I can buy for 500-600 clean dash comes with everything I need other than the ebrake bracket and door panels. I also have a good friend that has done 3 rhd conversions to his s13s and will help me with cutting, welding, wiring ect.
I asked him his opinion and he says go for it, but like I said earlier I'm still split whether I want to or not since my interior is a 10/10.
Thanks in advance

I don't care what anyone says about rhd. I did it I loved it and I spent a good deal of money on it. I loved the attention I got. If you have money I'd save up and buy a real rhd Silvia. The amount I spent I was only 3k away from buying a real Silvia

well if u got jdm headlights u wouldnt have to adjust headlights but do it proper unlike people that throw silvia front ends on lhd cars and dont modify the headlights to work right ive owned a rhd s13 and miss it was fun until drive thru's or parking by curbs came into play (door problems/to low) but up to u u have a clean car and u could import a shell from japan or canada

Also, cause you can sell me your dash when you do :D and all your other 10/10 interior. Do it, Do it, Do it. lol

I can get the swap done for less that 1000 dollars.

This is where the real issue is, most of the people against it have seen the hackjobs that usually result from a RHD swap, at that price, its probably what you're going to get.

Quoted for truth. If you're not gonna put the money and effort into doing it right, don't do it. Skim through my rhd build thread. If its not done like that or very similar to that, your 1k hook up gonna cost you $$ in the long run.

Real RHD imported is always going to be better than a swap...
But if you do a RHD conversion there is less legal bullshit involved. At least here in California anyway.
and it does cost a bit less than importing
A few companies in Japan take Japanese cars and convert them to be look like american cars, due to the taxes involved when importing american cars to Japan. (source: episode of translogic, speed tv on demand haha)
I personally see RHD conversions on LHD cars are basically the same concept. Getting that unique and foreign feel while not having to deal with all the red tape and DMV registration issues your going to encounter.
street car = convert it, cops can't really stop you (its not really illegal)
track car = import that shit! cops can't stop you (your on a track..)
unless you like not giving a fuck, and you like getting pulled over, and trips to the DMV, convert it. If you have some friend with experience then go for it just make sure to plan ahead on placement for everything, as the conversion will come out cleaner than it does for the person who 'wings it'

Better how ? because you have to dance around with an iffy title ?
Because if done right, the conversion results in a car no different than one not converted.

Problem is 80% of these firewall swaps aren't "done right".
To answer the initial question, who would take pride in having a girlfriend who had work done her face? Would it not be more "cool" to own the real thing?
Reading the OP's post made me feel sad for some of you. Doing stuff just for the looks and compliments? The desire for more male attention with your RHD swap...? :hey:

^lol that just made my day. For my.02 cents honestly man just do whats in your budget. If you can afford to do it right then do it right. If you can afford to have one imported then import. Ultimately, its always your decision and as long as your happy that's all that matters and please try not to get caught up in the tiresome zilvia bickering that goes on when most people are just internet bullies that's so 2003.

It's that cheap because my friends will help me and they both have experience with the swaps, one of which has converted 3 of his personal s13s to rhd properly. Everything works as it would from the factory.

I'm putting money and effort into, I have hookups like I said before which is why it's cheap. But your right in a sense and that's why I'm torn :/

Who cares if work was done to a chicks face, if she hot cause of the work done then in my book she's hot. Kinda like my ex she got a boob job, ya they weren't natural but shit, I was able to touch, lick, suck, fck them so they were real.
I'm not doing it for guys attention I'm doing it mainly bc I "fell in love with driving on the right side" and the added attention regardless from males or females is just adding to the experience

I see you enjoy fake shit, go right ahead and convert your 240SX to RHD. And then afterwards you can slap on Silvia badges and tell everyone you drive a Silvia because its RHD (faking the funk). Might as well invest in some XXR wheels too while you're at it.

I don't see your point. The OP wants to convert his car to RHD, and lucky for him, the S14 Silvia is RHD. Instead of hacking up his 240sx, he can take the parts he wants off his car and sell it. Then use that money to find a real S14 Silvia when the time is right. I can't buy an OEM factory spec S13.5, so I have to create it myself. And no I don't want an S15 Silvia either.

ill tell you now, you have to be pretty committed if you want to go rhd the swap way. Don't cut corners and make sure you convert the wipers too. I converted my s13 and love it. Looking into getting a real one now though.

OP go for it. I'm left handed and WOULD LOVE a rhd car. The reactions would be fun, but I feel more comfortable shifting with my left hand.

It's fun, but gets annoying (toll booths, atm's, drive through fast food, and trying to pass on the highway not being able to see if on coming traffic is coming.) I have a rhd silvia and i wouldn't convert one, exp a kouki that's as clean as yours. I know captain and he sent pictures everyday when he was converting his, looked like a lot of fucking work. Be prepared for people at meets and events to say "you're driving on the wrong side lol" so sick of hearing that lol. if you want a rhd silvia pm me i wouldn't mind having a kouki myself.

Do it! I personally owned an r33 and its a whole different experience driving on the other side. People that say other wise cause they say is played out they retarded.. That whole flush shiet or stance crap can be played out too and people do it. W.e floats ur boat. If I had a clean rhd interior to do it I would. Keep in mind if u have an after market engine u will get pull over and they will pop ur hood.

Yeah but this is a matter of going cheap and wanting a quick end result.
If someone had $10,000 to spend on a car and they wanted RHD. And they had these two options:
- S14 Silvia
- S14 240SX (RHD Converted)
Both these cars have the exact same features, same options, same paint EVERYTHING... the only difference is one is original RHD and one is LHD converted to RHD. Both cost the price of $10,000 exactly.
What is the logical choice?
If the OP is so dissatisfied with his car that he is contemplating the side on which it drives, maybe its time to look into another car.
If he wants to go RHD and have drift kiddies swinging on his nuts daily, I would highly suggest a Skyline or S15 Silvia.

Man, you really don't like those who convert their cars to rhd. lol Tell me how you really feel? :p
My entire conversion came out around 3k ish and it is done right. I converted mine just to do something fun and big. I enjoy building cars and big projects. Definitely didn't do it to get the attention or approval of the car/drift community. Definitely didn't do it for the women, my ass is locked down for life lol. I just thought it would be cool and fun to convert a rhd car. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
I'll still stand by my guns. Don't cut corners. Do it right the first time and be ready to have that car sitting for a while.

That's my whole point. No one wants to be patient anymore. He could sell his car and save up. In that time with no car he would then search for the perfect car that suits his needs. Hell maybe something completely unexpected will sweep him off of his feet.
Jason (jsu1012) has a real Silvia, and he'd be willing to trade for a nice Kouki 240sx. Captain converted his car to RHD but now is looking for the real deal.
When I was searching for a two-tone 240sx, I was told to just buy a coupe and paint it two-tone, I was told to get an automatic and convert it to 5 speed. But did I do any of that? Nope. I waited. And waited. Then I finally found the exact car I was after. An original Silver-Green Pearl Two-Tone coupe, original 5 speed and of course, no sunroof.
But I don't expect the rest of Zilvia to understand this concept, I feel like I'm preaching to the choir at this point. Although I know a select few of you will agree with my opinions.

I appreciate everyone's opinions. I have been thinking about it alot and have come to the conclusion that id rather go fast.

Option 1 in your list would require the $10k, option 2 would require half that roughly if someone is smart.
If you were so dissatisfied with how your car looked, why didn't you buy another car ?
