Hey everyone.....I'm new here as you can prolly tell. I just wanted to know what brand of brake pads you guys and gals use. Any pro's or con's? I'm also gonna be replacing my front rotors, when I do the pads, I don't have the cash for the 300Z swap, but I'm looking for quality, any ideas?
Thanx
I haven't used these but brembo stuff is good so take a look at these (http://www.pdm-racing.com/products/brakesrotor.html)

For a nice dual use pads, I've heard only good about Axxis Metal Masters. Good wear, easy on rotors, good street fade resistance, little dust, etc.
I keep meaning to pick up a set b/c right now I am running overly aggressive Carbotechs (a waste on the streets!).

i have the brombos Xdrilled with Axxis semi- metallic pads...
they are awesome... well i could tell u think for a few reasons.... u know those stupid A-holes who cant drive and cuts u off? well this happens alot here in Boston.... well one time i was going like 40mph and an idiot decides to pull out.. i slammed on the brakes and the car just like stopped, my friends behind me was like that was cool... all 4 tires smoked and the stop was instint, like someone just said freeze....
i am scared abt the Xdrill rotors because i heard they warp easy but i have had these for 1/2 hr now and they are great....

Do you call them "Massholes" up there too? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Those rotors look really good.....but I've heard that you cant re-suface or turn these rotors because they are cross drilled, and that only the slotted rotors would be able to be turned. Is this true? If not then I'll go with the these rotors. Thanks for all the help guys.

I had those exact brakes on my Neon, and it was night and day, about warping.. well I warped my stock rotors so, I don't really care, shit happens I guess. As for flipping and resurfacing... well they are tough as ####, you look at them out of the box and you know they will last, plus if you get the gold cadmium surface plating they don't rust and get eaten away like stock rotors, it is probably the best few hundred bucks you will spend, and the KVR carbon metalic pads are great too, just don't go with hawk blue's or anything like that, or you will eat your rotors in a few days.

Turning shouldn't be a problem - that is based on the thickness of the blank, which will not be reduced by drilling or slotting. They will, however, still warp and crack when subject to extreme use (drills are expecially prone to cracking). The plating will not prevent rotor surface rust, it will only prevent it in the unswept areas of the rotor. This is more for looks, but also preserves heat dissipation to the wheel as the rotor ages due to it's prevention of surface rust (you can get the same benefit by taking a steel brush to the hub area when rotating tires). Surface rust will still grow where the pad touches, just like any other rotor, but this does not really shorten the life of the rotor. KVRs and Axxis are both good for the money - Hawk Blues are a track pad that will a) eat rotors, b) wear very fast, c) not work well in cold operating conditions, d) generate corrosive dust, and e) cost too much for daily use. If you search old posts, there is a lot of duscussion on slots, drills, and blanks - the choice depends a lot on what you are using them for.
