I have heard multiple times that if you have a s15sr20 engine/tranny that you have to get the diff for the speed sensor.. GOT IT!!!
But what if.. I get the s15 sr20engine and mate it with a s14sr20 5speed tranny.. could I plug up the speed sensor to the tranny and not worry about the diff???
I have been looking but can't seem to find the info on it

The reason I ask is that I have started researching today... if i get a s15 sr20det and put a s14 5 speed tranny to it could i just put the speed sensor on the s14 tranny.... also it should just be a bolt on and stick in the car and mess with some wires.
Is there anything else to it?

I have a S15 sr20det and a s14 tranny in my 98 240. Speed to my understanding is received from the sensor on the tranny. The guy who originally did the swap sold the s15 tranny that came with the swap as its a weak tranny. I can tell you for sure there is no speed sensor on the rear.

So you have the speed sensor running to your tranny and everything works as it should?
this was the only thing i was worried about

If you're using an S13 or S14 tranny, all you need is to match the speed sensor for the chassis.
