Hello, I have couple problems on my sr20det black top, I did some research and found out some possible reasons...
OK, here is the problem.
1. My car runs great under 3500 rpm, but if I floor the throttle and above 3500rpm, some white smoke comes from the exhaust(sometimes, not always), and sometimes when I rev the engine. I tried to google the problem, someone says it because the coolant get into the engine, but I checked my coolant for couple weeks, it didn't decrease. And also have some people says that caused by a bad turbo seal or ring..
2.This problem still happened at high rpm. After above 4000rpm, and only on 2nd+ gear (I believe so, I didn't see the problem at 1st gear), the turbo doesn't working good, the car feels like hesitate, loose power, and feels like the turbo has "asthma", just shake the whole car...sorry for the improper description.
So by combine those problems, I guess the problems come from the bad turbo seal, is it right? I really hope somebody can help me out...Thank you!
And it is a 1998 kouki

Yes more than likely the white smoke is due to a blown turbo. Pop the intake tract off, feel the impeller and check for shaft play. Its okay if it moves around a bit but if you can pull it in and out, its done.
As far as your other issues...that's not related to the turbo. Check your timing and make sure your base timing and CAS timing is good. Then check your spark plugs and make sure they're good and gapped properly (.030).

Also it sounds like you may be experiencing a boost leak too. One thing that is very important is to make sure your whole system is vacuum and boost leak free. Do some research on how to build a tester and make sure to fix any leaks. You will thank me later

Sounds like what an SR will do after getting juiced with octane booster. If you have, or have ever used any injector cleaner/octane booster, you need to run it dry, change your spark plugs and never use it again.
It may be minor blow-by starting to happen, too (the smoke, not the hesitation).

TPS stands for throttle position sensor. It's possible your coilpacks are bad and the spark is blowing out under boost/high rpms.

Did you guys make any recent changes /mods to your cars or did it just start happening? recent swap?

To both of the posters - find and fix your BOOST LEAKS.
Or
Buy a new ECU, TPS, CAS, MAF and when you figure out that that is not it, fix your boost leaks.

is there a way to check your coilpacks are good?
