SO I have a 95 240sx with sr swap. A few days ago it randomly cut off on me while I was driving and when I went to start it back up the fuel pump didn't prime. The fuse is good as is the relay. I feel a click within it when I turn the key to the "on" position. I also connected a wire from the 3 and 5 prongs and the fuel pump started running and never stopped. Any Ideas???

I had some issue with my fuel pump relay, it overheated......I never found why, I have a Bosch044 pump.

I connected the 3 and 5, and i use the car like that since it appears.

Do you know how the relay works? If you're bypassing it then there's a problem with the circuit that is controlling the relay.

No i'm really sure how the relay works. But the fuse is good, relay is good and so is the fuel pump. The car still will not prime or start.

a relay is like an electrically controlled switch, when power goes to the relay it energizes a magnet that closes a switch inside it(the switch closing is why they click) which sends power to the fuel pump. there should be two blades that have voltage going to them one should be the coil side and the other should be the switch side. usually the coil side is activated by the Ecu grounding the ground side of the coil. and the other side of the switch is connected to the fuel pump. are you using a 4 pin relay or a 5 pin?

Its a 4 pin relay.

If the relay is clicking and not sending power and then when you jump the connection it works. Well then I'm gonna have to say that that relay is no good or you have bad connections.

The relay wont click and it's a brand new one.

then either your ecu isnt grounding the relay or you are not getting power to the coil side of the relay

Thats your problem, relay suppose to click when it workd

Well I cut the wire that goes from relay to ecu and grounded it off so it clicks and primes, but it doesn't stop priming. Not really a problem. But as soon as I go to start the motor the fuel pump stops working and still doesn't start. . . -_-
