we watched a guy slam his M3 into the wall at one of our track days this past summer. completely demolished it! poor guy, insurance doesnt cover ANY racing accidents. oops! yes there is risk, BUT S**T ITS FUN!!
A year ago I saw a accident just like that from twinturbo.net. But the video I saw you could see the people being shot in the air like 30 feet. Scary shit.
C5's suck.

OMG that's awful. Course work is always the scariest part of any autox - and oddly, working off sets like those never worries me, but I guess the car is coming that much faster. I always thought how stupid the people who got injured spectating at WRC events were for standing on the edge of the track, but never thought I was for working there.
BTW yenpit - I know stories from people who direct track days that some people are able to get coverage *IF* the event is billed as HPDE and not a time trial or lapping day. Hope I never have to find out in a street car!

Man you guys gotta start posting better warnings on your pics and videos. Im not usually a squeamish person but I really didnt need to see that.
And some of the accident pics floating around here that Ive had the misfortune of viewing really could have had a warning on them too.
Im eating dinner for f's sake!
If I wanted to see that kind of stuff Id go to Rotten.com or something.
I know this isnt my forum or anything, but its just a suggestion to put a small note in the title to give us a clue what we are about to click on please.

I'm gonna third that. People being tossed like rag dolls aren't my idea of fun. However, what the #### were they doing that close to the course? And why weren't they paying better attention to where the car was going? You can be your ass if there wasn't a guardrail, I'd be watching everyone. Reminds me of when I got run over by a 70's Dodge pickup on my bike.

I saw that before. Well more reason not to buy a corvette or any muscle car and auto X it.

You guys are a bunch of sissy's!!! You're trying to tell me you didn't know it was gonna be bad?? Let's see, auto-x video (thought) Racing, possibly dangerous. Not let my parents see (thought) because if they see they will never let me do it. Come on, that was too easy!! Ah I guess I'm just numb from hours and hours of Bangedup.com, Rotten.com, and Ogrish.com.

or if you're feeling REALLY adventurous, stileproject.com, or for those beyond hardcore, goatse.cx
i dunno, the c5 corvete got better performance in braking, slalom, quartermile, and skidpad than the acura NSX. it's perfectly capable of autox, it's simply the driver's fault in this case

chicken - when you autox, the usual routine is that you have to work the course (re-setting cones, calling in missed gates, red flagging cars, etc.) for one heat while you are not running. They always try to put you behind a pole or well away from the expected path of the car - but as this shows, that is not always possible and even though they were running, it all happens fast.
Drifting - mistert is right and the C5 (particularly in z06 form) is THE autox car on the market. Short of a funny looking hand built jobbie, C5 dominates. This is the case of a guy losing it and thinking he can regain it through the application of more throttle... Unfortunately it happens (even to nationally ranked drivers).
The other thing is that I don't go to all those scary ass sites with horrific car wrecks b/c I never want to become desensitized to the killing potential of the automobile. Same reason I preach against street racing and goofing off (a la that WRX wreck thread).
As a side note, I quote you:
"-MKA 96 KA24E attached to D21 hardbody shortbed. Semi-sleeper at the moment. "
Dont you mean 96 KA24DE? The SOHC motor (KA24E) is 89-90. :)

Well said Hippo, I have a couple of friends who like to drive hard, real hard, and it scares the shit out of me. I love going fast but not mach 1 in a 45, and other shit like that. The only thing you can do is go to a track, which this guy did, but something still went wrong cuz accidents happen. I hope that person is alright and don't think it could not have been you watching your friend x-cross his new car. I'm not trying to be a dickhead, I just think there are too many "desensitized" people in this world today.
