Another My Sr20det tapping noise thread.

I just went through this probably 6 months ago. I replaced the whole head in my car, put greddy rocker arm stoppers in the engine. Car was driving good until I blew my turbo three months later. Just said screw it and drove the car home on a really bad blown turbo, so I knew it was bound to happen. But anyways my guess is a rod knock but maybe you guys can confirm this. Thanks

You can always try getting a stethoscope and find where the noise is coming from, you will know if it's coming from the block or the head. It will at least give you a better idea.

Thanks guys I was afraid of that. Oh well this time its going to a shop. Any suggestions on a rebuilt kit or anything? Also is it cheaper just to buy a head?

Here is what I did. Took off the valve cover and inspected the engine. Everything was in place and nothing seemed to be broke. So this is the video of me looking through the engine.

Then I hooked up my spark plugs and started the engine without the valve cover on. Sounds like it is coming from the piston or something. Anyone have an idea?

I'm pretty sure it's a rod knock, need to rebuild the whole thing....
