City: Seattle
State/Province: WA
Country: USA
Price: $14,700
Item Description:

Thread was recently bumped, so I thought I'd mention that I'll be back in Seattle this December, and can show the car then.

Notes on the car:
• 1996 Nissan 240SX SE, Aspen White Pearlglow (WK0)
• Has spent 100% of its life in Washington State; no salty roads, no rust!
• Title in hand -- no liens
• No easily visible dings on the body; only real blemishes are on the trunk lid where the USDM OE spoiler holes were filled
• Chassis/motor have around 165k/80k miles respectively, though the head build/HG were done about 18,000 miles ago
• The title has a "Not Actual" brand due to the "Odometer mileage not as reported" box being checked after the SR20 swap was completed in 2003/2004. I've been told that, since the car is more than 10 years old and is now odometer exempt, this brand can be removed from the title
• This car was converted to 5-speed during the SR20 swap, and was a completely stock, automatic for the first 80k+ miles of its life. Note: reverse lights aren't functional
• The majority of suspension parts, wheels, tires, bushings, and several bolt-ons are brand new. My intention was to keep this car longer term so I did everything right (once), but we'll be moving country for an indeterminate amount of time and I'm not taking anything with me. Next owner benefits from meticulousness!
• Clutch/flywheel, rear main seal, gearbox oil were done in the last 15,000 miles
• Differential oil, engine oil, coolant, oil filter, brake fluid, PS fluid are all fresh
• SE, so it has a sunroof. Seats use custom, ultra-low brackets so there's plenty of headroom to spare (best of both worlds). Driver's side bracket needs to be modified for someone under 6' tall. Shorter folks: bring a taller friend with you
• The car has seen a few auto-x events, and one track day at PGP. Built for traction, never been drifted
• Cool fact: shot by MS to model the S14 Silvia in Forza 4

Engine:
• S14 SR20DET w/ VTC
• IHI VN14 turbocharger (Autech Silvia OEM; equivalent to Power Enterprise PE1420)
• GReddy V2 intake manifold w/ CS gasket
• GReddy FMIC w/ GReddy cold pipe
• GReddy 256/264 camshafts (VTC-friendly)

• Exedy Stage 2 clutch (w/ SS clutch line)
• Toda 9lb aluminum flywheel
• DIF stainless turbo lines
• BC titanium valve springs and retainers
• Espeilr JGT 500 catback exhaust
• Blitz downpipe
• GReddy O2 housing
• Synapse bypass valve w/ custom hot pipe for charge recirculation

• APEXi AVC-R electronic boost controller
• Innovate LC-1/XD-16 wideband O2 sensor

• S15 leather-wrapped steering wheel (same as R34 GT-R OE; increased girth, working airbag)
• Nismo leather-wrapped shift knob
• Kouki S14 Silvia "K's" DIN gauges

I'm likely forgetting a few things, and will update this thread with revisions as they come to mind. If the car doesn't sell by the 20th of April it will be prepped for long-term storage and may sporadically be back on the market if I'm in town. I have so little time to invest in this sale that storage arrangements have already been made. If this thread is active, the car is still available.

Asking $14,700. No part outs. No trades. No shipping. No payments.

Thanks folks!

Life story available at this link: For Sale 1996 Nissan 240SX SE w/ S14 SR20DET, Nismo LM-GT2, ... (http://www.northwestnissans.com/board/threads/82077-1996-Nissan-240SX-SE-w-S14-SR20DET-Nismo-LM-GT2)
+ I sold the car back in late-2008 to a close friend, and bought it back a year later. I've owned it and have been pouring loads of cash and time into it ever since ;)

Fortunately I don't have to sell the car since I have storage lined up, but it would be nice not to have to worry about it. Still, it's not a bad thing to have a car waiting for you for the 1 or 2 times that you'll be in town each year.

The car spends most of its time just hiding out in my garage, so it's not out on the road a whole lot. It's also been a solid year or two since I've had it out to any meets, and it looks quite a bit different from how most people may remember it, back when it was on Ohlins and LM-GT2 http://zilvia.net/f/wheels-tires/253922-fs-ft-nismo-lm-gt2-staggered-set-17x8-0j-35-17x9-0j-38-w-yokohama-advan-sports.html

We're moving to Europe :)

Will be in town on the 10th and 11th of June and happy to show the car to interested buyers who have cash in hand. I'll be back to see friends and family, so no time wasters please.

Price reduced to $14,700.

Car looks great! I'm actually going for the same wheel and tire size combo. why such a low spring rate?

Thanks man!

The rates are definitely lower than the typical 8k/6k ones you'd see packaged with most Japanese suspension, but the roads and tracks in the US have a lot more in common with those you'd see in Europe than they do with the nicer bits of tarmac in Asia. The 'ring is unlikely to see refurbishment anytime soon :)

Example: coilover kits for the E92 M3 target a wheel rate of about 475/225, and the car is about 700# heaver than an S14.

It's been a while since I put the suspension together, but I recall the effective wheel rates being around 300#/200#. If it were going to be a mostly auto-x car I would have gone with much higher rates, especially in the front, and run a much beefier front swaybar. The reality is that the car would probably see 75% street time, 15% lapping days (on crap surfaces like at Bremerton and Pacific), and 10% destroying cones in a parking lot. These rates felt like the right compromise.

Hope that answers your question!

Also, to anyone wondering, I'll be back in Seattle again this December for the holidays and I'm happy to let interested buyers take a look then. I've also had some offers to sell the car on consignment, which would mean a higher price since I'd be going through a middle-man, but you'd probably have an easier time getting financing if that were a thing.

Good info! Also, sorry to bother you, but I'm looking to do the exact same wheel and tire setup as you on my s14, except I'll be running hankook ventus r-s3. Do you have any clearance problems? Did you have to do anything more than just a roll? Any other advice/ info would be great!

thanks in advance

Definitely rent or borrow a fender roller -- I was lucky enough to have a couple of friends who had Eastwood rollers that they could lend me. You'll need to do both the fronts and rears, and you'll definitely want a second person there with a heat gun who can help keep the fenders hot. Take your time if your fenders are nice and you want to keep them that way :)

Aside from that you'll need to relocate your front fender harnesses so that your tires won't chew through them, and there are a ton of threads here on Zilvia showing ways of doing this. The more time you put into it, the safer your harness will be in the long run (mine is relocated up out of the way, secured, and wrapped in a waterproof tape used in house wiring, and covered with plastic shielding similar to what's used from the factory).

Good luck!

Great advise! also, how much camber are you running? And do you know approx how far you had to pull the fenders?

I'm running -3* in the front, and -2* in the rear. Setback and track width are neutral against the diagonals.
