I AM NOW DOING A VH45 SWAP ON THIS CAR, CANT CHANGE THE THREAD TITLE

I am currently working on a rebuild of a 1991 300zx 2+2 in Aztec Red that I picked up in a trade. The previous owner claimed that it was a rebuilt motor, but it spun a bearing the second week I was driving it. Heard the knock and shut the motor off since then

http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/1989/img201303270727238431.jpg

-Currently pulling final pieces of random brackets and whatnot out of the engine bay. The motor and trans are already pulled. Interior is completely gutted now
-I already picked up a z32 5-speed transmission. Synchros are extremely smooth, some guy
-I got the clutch pedal, clutch master, transmission bracket and related stuff, transmission subharness, 2+2 manual driveshaft at crazy rays

What I need to buy for the transmission still
again let me know if you have a different opinion on any of this or insight

8 5spd Flywheel Bolts

resurface flywheel

9 Pressure Plate Bolts with Washers

2 5spd Transmission to Engine Plates

Trans front and rear seals

starter (same for tt and na)

starter spacer $17.50 if necessary (need to determine if tt or na trans) zspeedperformance
If trying to use a TT trans in an NA you would either have to grind down where the starter mounts so that it could engage the smaller NA flywheel or just use the TT flywheel, which could be used with only a TT clutch.

Z1 clutch $275
whats the difference between this and the powertrix $250 clutch?

TOB comes with clutch kit
powertrix $32 oem
z1 has koyo oem bearing for $30

pilot bushing
$4.72 from powertrix

oem shifter bushing/ OR metal/bronze shifter bushings (may need 2??)
$2.50 from powertrix

Clutch master cylinder rebuild kit - $20 z1motorsports

Clutch slave cylinder - $46.81 z1

shifter bracket? Might just epoxy the crack in the old rubber one or make a solid one
$85 - chasebays

clutch release fork assembly, $92 total with all optional items from z1 (GET FOR Z33!)
Solid Cast Iron Clutch Release Fork
Throw Out Bearing Sleeve Retainer Spring
Clutch Release Fork Retainer Spring
OE (Optional Chromoly) Pivot Ball with Stainless Steel Washer
Optional Throw Out Bearing Sleeve
Optional Clutch Release Fork Dust Boot

Transmission mount. z1 has solid aluminum trans mount for $65

Clutch lines - ($30 powertrix $40 z1)
SZ SS CLUTCH LINE LONG VERSION from powertrix
make sure has all same hardware as z1

bolt kit to bolt trans in, $30 AMS
==========================================

Picked up a 1994 q45t with 80k on the odo. First owner was an old lady for 70k and then a noob for 10k who didnt know how to plug in the coilpacks or put coolant in the radiator.
Im going to get a headgasket and do all of the seals on the motor

Pulled the motor out. Took the brakes and diff off the q45 as well to start a s13 project with my younger brother.

I am parting out the remainder of the car if anyone wants anything cheapp
It does have a car phone. loll

It IS possible to pull the vg30de engine with the auto trans attached.
-remove exhaust
-remove driveshaft
-unplug everything in the engine bay
-remove radiator, airbox, ac condensor
-remove alternator
-unbolt engine mounts from below the crossmember
-pull the engine halfway and disconnect the remaining wires and piping
-jack it the rest of the way with a friend managing the engine position

I removed both fenders, the bumper, and crash bar as well before removing the engine

QUESTION!?!
-What are the fitting sizes from the z32 rack and the fitting sizes from the vh45 power steering pump and reservoir? I would like to make an AN high pressure line and replace the low pressure line either with stock or AN

This project is slowly coming together, but I need to take more pictures of the progress. I picked up a 350z and have been busy modifying that for daily driving so this took a back seat last month.

I picked up the inner tie rods and decided to run stock outer tie rods for the moment. I am going to install 10mm spacers on the new rack before it goes in. I am also going to be attempting to gain better steering angle with a few other experiments. Modifying the bump stops on the stock control arms is the first experiment. I will also attempt the larger looking q45 control arms on the z32, also with shaved bump stops. There are no aftermarket knuckles, so I may need to add that to my fabrication list down the road.

I had a steering issue in the z32 before it was off the road. I think I may have found the problem. A lack of bushings....

Picked up a bunch of hoosier A6 295 30 18s for the wheels that you will see soon. Right now the 300 is just sitting on stock 07 350z wheels

Here is a shift knob that I made for the car. The bottle is filled with fiberglass resin.

well you have to get the bores (inside) micrometer'd first to see if even need a bore/hone.

check the bearings for uneven wear. confirm that the knock is/was a spun bearing,
inside mic the crank journals. mic the crank itself, possibly get it refinished, could need oversize bearings.

If it is confirmed as a spun bearing, Im going to get machine work done just to be safe. I dont want to take the chance a rod even slightly gouged a cylinder

I'll look into the crank, crank journals, and bearing size thanks

was gonna recommend the z33 clutch fork & matching ball but i see you already have that in your equation :)

just go ahead and call Z1 and ask em exactly what all gaskets are included in the kit. theyre customer service is excellent.

Z1 is a great source for parts, but i feel like if you shopped around you could piece a lot off this stuf together for cheaper.

Are you saying that I should be getting the clutch fork from a 350z? z33? I think that was just new z32 trans stuff I was getting

Thanks, I'll definitely shop around and call Z1

Still in school for a week and a half but things have changed a lot in this build plan, as they always do, I just purchased a q45 that I am picking up on friday

All of the transmission parts will be the same except for an upgraded clutch to handle the increase in torque
adaptor is $410 dollars shipped with the spacer and all the hardware

The vh45 has 80000 miles on it. Im hoping to only spend money on supplies for wiring and spool for welding.....but we all know how that goes
I have some money set aside for finishing the project and if it isnt needed then ill be picking up some coilovers and wheels

also heres my driveway recently

Questions:

I do plan on running the car at some drift events, so i have a lot of suspension work to do, but I have gotten started

I ordered...
-a reman rack from auto parts warehouse for $210
-powered by max 7mm tie rod spacers $10
PBM has GREAT customer service

Still need...
-z33 inner tie rod ends $110 from z speed performance
-spl outer tie rod ends $240 (more than the whole rack...... might look for a different adjustable solution here)
