Give it to somebody(like me) with an auto tranny KA powered S13 that can barely afford to keep it running

Buy more tools if you don't have everything you need to work on your car. Suspension also should be a priority for performance. With all that stuff and 5k i would be having fun running up boost on a KA until it pops, take what i learn from that and apply it to the next. You could probably do this cycle like 4 times at 300 an engine.

i know what i want for suspension, but what would you do for more power! use 3k

Then get a Kaaz diff for better launches
Better clutch
upgrade radiator to keep things cooler

...and put together a turbo kit of your liking.

2k wont get you the suspension you need. 5k will be perfect for what you need to control a 240 with 300 hp.

soo... you plan on drifting after you reach 300-350hp range? are you insane? maybe you should just get some better suspension, lsd, brakes and then practice for a little while. then with the rest of the money you can buy a bigger turbo, radiator, injectors...etc, etc. but drive your car man. you dont need all that power to drift.

I have to agree with some of the above comments ... get an lsd and some nice suspension. Then practice your ass off. You could have all the power in the world, but without the handles/skill - it wouldn't make a bit of difference.

Power is addicting tho, I feel you on that one.

Wow, what year is the GSR because 3g's is a pretty low price.

Yeah, suspension mods since you already have the SR, and buy some support mods for increased boost, MAFS, injectors, etc.

suspension, man. you own a car that's practically legendary with it's handling characteristics. GOOD wheels and tires, coilovers, brakes, and chassis bracing. if you have some leftover i'd get tubular parts to replace the stock stamped steel stuff.

 haha i laughed too when i read that guys comment. LEGENGDARY! hahah. there are soo many great handling cars out there like miata, itr, crx, etc. etc. i think he thinks its legendary b/c its rwd and superstreet says it is. s-chasis handling is pretty good, but s13 suffers from way too much understeer. s14 is pretty solid and so is s15 but they have their flaws as well. upon driving my friends miata, i can say stock for stock its so much greater than my s13s handling. ive read from other threads that even spending money on coilovers and some other suspension mods that an s13 will still not be on par with the stock miata suspension setup. i want a miata to mess around with but dont have the money :(

Buy another S13 that has a horrible exterior for cheap. Install a roll cage and safety seats, 2-3 more sets of stock wheels with different compound rallytires and go rallying!

......oh wait, thats what I would do with 5grand. what YOU do with 5 grand is up to you, and in my opinion should be clear enough that you aren't asking a message board what to do with it.

thanx for overlooking the condition "practically". alright, perhaps it was a slight hyperbole, so enlighten me. what is the S13 chassis favored for and well loved for? i thought it was being light and nimble. feel free to elaborate on why this chassis is mediocre...

p.s. hey douche, i wasn't asking for a 300 page manual, just a simple concise statement to answer a simple concise question. if you haven't the applicable knowledge then just ignore the question. :jerkit:

get sub $2000 coilovers, wheels and GOOD tires. (if you have power-which you do- you can still drift on good tires just get stiff, stretched ones) do all the moderately inexpensive chassis bracing that is listed allll over this forum. then save $600 for tires, tires, tires

Really? The Miata is THAT GOOD?

Or, the S13 is THAT BAD?

That sucks. Can anything be done to bring it up to par, or is the chassis just not up to the task? Coilovers + ????

The s13 is notorious for having weak front traction. They handle okay but they are really not that great, even compared to a heavier car like a Supra. To make the s13 handle right you'd have to change a lot of parts, and most importantly you'd have to have it tuned by a professional. All these things aside...i'd still take a 240 cause it's better than a miata. Just learn how to drive and you can drive faster than others that drive miatas.

Rule of thumb- Nissans understeer. I just watched last year's D1. The 350Z looked like a pig compared to everything else out there. I guess the Skyline was cool though.
