hello

is it possible to get that low rumbling resonance from a stock 240sx without many or any engine mods??

im looking to gain some HP also, but i would really like that low rumbling noise not that fart noise you hear on poorly modded cars

is this possible?

how would i go about doing it?

thanks

never did it myself and im new to 240s but im sure if u removed the resonators/suitcase-muffler u would get exhaust sound. how it would sound i dunno....try it out...will flow a bit better replacing it with strait pipe too...

The muffler or the whole exhaust? I pulled the whole thing off one time and drove around town, that ish was ridiculously loud. :ughd: It gave me a nice back massage whenever I got on the gas though... :naughtyd:

the 240's engine is 2.4 liters. that's almost half what you need to get that "low rumbling sound" which i can only take to mean, say, the sound of an opened up camaro or stang. it'll be higher pitched no matter what you do. but, depending on what you do, it'll either sound kind of sporty, or very, very annoying and bad. i'd worry about other sutff, unless your exhaust is rusting off...

Here I found just what you were lookin for. Magical mystic exhaust mod (http://www.store.yahoo.com/phase2motorsports/exhuasts.html)

Look at how much money you have, buy one accordingly, or look elsewhere for cheaper, put it on and be happy with the noise. :duh:

Edit: ooh ohh, i just remembered too, go look in the faq section, thats where they put the exhaust note thread.

i def. do not want a fart can, i would rather have a stock exhaust than a fart can.

theyre not fart cans, theyre full catbacks. Unlike a 50 dollar can from ebay, they will be deep and nice sounding, but loud though, depending on which one. listen to the sounds on the exhaust note thread, and just research it a little. also, if you want one thats quiet but more aggressive than stock, try the 5zigen borderIII, rsr exmag (street one, not gtII), or maybe the hks sport exhaust.

Also, click the tech section thing up top, and there are also some more exhaust videos there.

I recently installed a Dynomax super Turbo with a single factory looking tip. Sound is basically stock at idle but nice at WOT. Not annoying at all. Easy to still hear stereo and the sound it produces is nice for the money. I still have the cat and a resonator (mid-muffler, whatever you want to call it) installed.
There is a sound clip of it some where on the internet. I notices a slight increase in the cars power.
