I think that I might have a blown shock. I was making a right on to a street and I heard and felt a "bang/thud", that was hard enough to make my pioneer skip (not easy), I thought my tire hopped the rim. I get out to check it and everything seems fine. I checked all the arms and they all seemed okay. pushing down on the car in the front, the driver side pushes down noticably easier than the passenger side. also if I go around right hand turn that have bumps in them the wheel seems to make a small "thud" and the car doesn't behave as well as it used to. What do you guys think. What are the symtems of a blown shock and what will it do to the car if I keep driving it. Thanks in advance for the replies.

Yeah it sounds liek a worn shock and mount. The thud is probably your wheel bottoming out. Does the steering wheel grab or shutter with the thuds? Another easy way to tell is have someone drive along side you and hit some bumps, if they see your wheel hopping up and down excessively then it's a bad strut. The long term affects are poor handling performance, bad tire wear, and that annoying thud. Hope this helps!!

okay everyone.....GROUP HUG!!! (I need a friend)

usually when a strut is blown the grease liquid inside would start leaking out...check to see if its greasy/oily. and wut the other people said. :wiggle: :boink:

Well in this case K-Sport coils here I come. I just got done talking to Nick from Trix, and I will be able to pick these up from AZ in about a month. Is it safe to drive on it this way. I also just got new tires 20 minutes before this happend. Thanks for all the help guy.

If your problems started up 20 minutes AFTER you replaced your tires then go back to the place that replaced your tires. Make sure they didn't "accidently" loosen a bolt they shouldn't have. Make them check the lug nuts with a torque wrench to make sure they properly torqued down the rims/wheels. Trust me if you would have had ANY suspension problems PRIOR to taking your car into the shop for tires, the Tire shop would have pointed it out to you on the hopes that they could make the repairs!! More $$$ for them!!
Is it safe to drive on? Ummm...it's up to you. Some people will say "Yes' while others will say "No". You might do some minor damage to suspension components like tie rods, wheel bearings, etc as they will be taking the brunt of the abuse you throw at it...shocks/struts provide a "cushion" and absorb most of the road energy generated to your suspension. The worst "damage' you'll probably see is to the treads of your new tires. You'll notice some "cupping" / abnormal wear in the tread wear.
Anyhow, hope this helps...
Good luck!!

My car was feeling a little weird before I took it in. I thought it was just the tires. I think that the extra grip of a wider, stickier tire getting pushed for the first time may have helped push it over the edge.

Aaron, I am going in about a month. I am waiting for him to get his shipment of coils in. Where in AZ do you have to go? I am going to be going to Chandler, its just outside of Phoenix. Let me know, maybe we car save gas and such.
