I went autox last weekend for the first time and forgot to stiffen up my suspension. So yeah, both front inner fenders are scraped pretty bad and cracked. The driver side actually rubbed through the fender and through another layer onto some wires. I was wondering if it's still ok or would I need to fix it. Any help would great. Thanks.

pull that harness up and out of the way! shouold be ok if no wires were severed. should wrap it in electric tape NOT duct tape.

You shouldn't have fenderliner anyways. Pull that crap out. Then take some zipties and pull the harness out of the way. And if you are real hardcore and like your car slammed, drill a hole in the fender and reroute the wire into the engine bay.

Yep yours looks a lot better than the condition of mine!!! I'm relocating it into the engine bay like Chris suggests... Mine acutally got to the wires and chewed some up. Today's gonna be a fun solder/shrinkwrap day :)

Thanks for the tips guys. I've always wanted to take out that fenderliner since it's been rubbing my tires on right turns for a while, just never quite knew what I should do about the wires. Looks like I'll just wrap them in electrical tape and then zip tie them up. Thanks again.

I was either crazy or brave but i snipped that harness right in the middle and rerouted it. I was rewiring for hours. haha

If you remove the liners doesn't take away the support for the bottom back of the bumper? Wouldn't it shake while you are driving?

must be thinking of a different car.

u sure u know what youre talking about? the fender liner is just a piece of plastic, or something of that idea. i cant think of why it would make the car shake if you removed it.

Have fun and post some pics when you are done.

The screws in my liners ripped through the material. One day, I was driving pretty hard and my pass. side ripped off completely. My bumper wasn't shaking or anything...
I still have the driver's side liner that has a big gaping ass hole in it from my tire. If some1 wants it. (haha)

There is actually an extra brace held by screws underneath the liner, behind the front bumper. This metal piece braces together the panel to the frame so it doesn't wobble.

I relocated the wiring to the engine bay, re-taped, and painted it to match. Hardly noticable and you don't have 2 damage them any more.

I just checked, on my wife's escort zx2 there is a little metal bracket attached to the fender liner. It helps support the bottom of the bumper. not car shaking but bumper shaking.
