You could get reckless driving + endagerment to the passenger + lose your license + 2000$+ fine + some jail time.
bare minimum I'd say 1200-1500 dollar fine and license revoked for 6 months
no joke.

Once you hit triple digits it's more than just speeding you're getting in trouble for. Like previously mentioned. You're driving a deadly weapon and not only endangering yourself, the person/people in your car, but everyone else.
The judge won't be that easy if at all on you.
My 87 in a 65 on the toll road at night AFTER rush hour-hours alone was $430 and I didn't get any sort of break for it being my first ticket either.
To be honest I don't know how you weren't taken to jail right there and then.

just say "yes, i was speeding and it was entirely my fault and that I won't do it again." Request for community service to lower your fine and you'll prolly save a couple bucks.
I paid off a $1500 ticket for 60 hours of community service which was only $50 ;)

Even though you didn't get Jailed right there and then, There is still a very good chance you will lose your license for a while on top of the ticket.
Don't forget they can easily revoke it for that, and if the judge is a real ass he / she can hit you with all sorts of stuff ( like I mentioned earlier ) it's not just a simple speeding ticket anymore.

You may have not been taken to jail on the spot because he may have thought you were somewhat responsible after talking to you. I got caught up last june doing street thangs that we don't speak of on this site and they let me go but I had papers for court in my mailbox in october. I had to go to court, get booked at the county jail, go to court again but ended up only paying $350 because the Public Attorney lowered the charge to a unsafe speed infraction. Hope you get lucky man... MINE STARTED OFF AS A FELONY!

Yes it does as well as the area you're in.
For example:
A) Going 45 (give or take) in a 35 at 3:30PM, a local school just got out and kids are going home.
= You sir are fucked. No mercy.
B) Going the same speed in the same area but this time 8:30PM
= No fucks given, most likely wont even get pulled over (unless you're that one and only car and the cop is given no other option really).
You getting stopped and how bad you're going to get in trouble all depends on the time of day and the type of area you were in. It is one of the first things that are reviewed.
Bad times to do things: time a school starts and ends, rush hour, and 11ish-3am (drunk drivers, etc.) You WILL GET STOPPED.

sounds like street racing.. which is almost always a felony
I think if you are doing 10 or less over the limit you are ok.( to the person above ) because here in colorado A cop told me they are not suppose to pull someone over unless they are doing more than 10mph over, because of the possibility of the Radar gun calibration or some bs.

I've been in the car with my friend for doing 10 over. Like I said, it all depends on the time and the area you're in.
A cop is going to shit on if you're doing 10 over on a residential neighborhood street. They're trained to determine speeds without a radar gun. My friend's speed wasn't determined by a radar, just a motorcycle cop wait to turn at a light. Not sure about Colorado but that goes for everyone in California.
I myself have spoken with many cops, many times.

Some one said that once you hit those triple digits you're fucked.
Actually it's when you hit 95mph IIRC.
When you go 30mph over the Max Speed Limit it's considered a felony in the wonderful state of California.

You should be fine. The officer didn't cite you for reckless driving which means the judge the wont see it as putting other cars in danger. This is key because they usually don't care about you, but rather others around you.
Get a lawyer that handles speeding tickets. The lawyer may cost some money, but they can reduce your fine and often times avoid any insurance increase by going to traffic school.
good luck.
(experience: a friend of mine has 4 tickets all over 100mph within 2 years and he only had to pay roughly 2,000 in fines and traffic school. although that didnt include the lawyer fees)

What about the 54 hour class they have to take and the test they have to pass in order to write said tickets without a radar gun?
I believe they have to be within 2-4 mph on their final tests. freeway and residential speeds, but go on about how much you think you know....(909 should know this more than any others. Riverside is notorious for this training and tickets.)

I got caught going 101 in a 60 once, also with a passenger. Officer did not jail me on the spot, but wrote me a summons, not a normal ticket. The lawyers were surprised I did not go to jail.
Got a lawyer (recommended!!!) and after it was all said and done, I think I had a total fee or $750 after fines and lawyer fees (the lawyer owed somebody I know a favor, so it was cheaper than normal) plus whatever the cost it was for one of those DUI classes on the weekend and MADD class at night in the capital. I was not drunk driving, they just see it good class for learning consequences of terrible driving decisions.
To sum it up, what I ended up with was: $750-$900 lost, a Saturday lost a Wednesday night lost, but no points on my license, no record of a ticket, and not suspended or altered drivers privileges. This was in St. Louis though, not sure where you live.

THANK YOU, somebody understands. The officers my friend and I were able to talk to after that were letting us know all about that. They say it's one of the most important things they get taught, they said the lessons are very thorough and long. They also have to be able to determine appropriate speeds through turns.
For example, if the posted speed limit is 45MPH and you take a right turn going 30-35MPH that can be considered speeding. Then they also said weather conditions can also apply, because you should be driving appropriately with a lot of caution based on driving conditions. In short, you shouldn't be driving in fog or heavy rain just as you would in the dry even though when you drive in the dry/sunny it's at legal speeds, etc.

^^^Damn. That sucks. Here in PA I got out of a ticket without a lawyer because the cop used a time clock to time my speed. I did my homework and got lucky the judge let me test the cops ability and he ended up failing. And I don't care how much training the cops will have I would fight it everytime if the cop wouldn't use an actual gun.
The main reason why I fight is because 99% of the time I'm only driving around 5-10mph over if at all.

Why even pay the hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment when you can just train someone to be a radar gun.

So in math class did you think "right, you guys have calculators in your heads" when people did simple mathematics in their head?

Let me google that for you (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=supreme+court+ruling+visual+speeding+ticket)
this is a case in Ohio, but I believe most states don't require a burden of proof for speeding tickets. This will only fly of course if the officer is trained.
BTW - I typically hang out with 3-5 CHP officers once a month or so and have a really good friend who is trained on this matter. I can have him pull the source in their manual if you REALLY can't google it yourself.

I'm starting to think you're a bit dim.

Must mean that all 50 do, because every state is the same as Ohio.

But in all seriousness I am really surprised that shit would fly anywhere.
Yeah I was reaching with the 4th, but I'm too lazy to make any real argument.
Honestly, I have gotten out of two tickets when the office had no radar\laser gun.
One time I fought the ticket and typed up a letter with it, describing the situation in my own words.
It was nollied, or "nolle prossed".
(I've had several others get nollied that way)
The second time that didn't work, I had to go to court to meet the state prosecutor, and I was able to get it dropped.
BUT I showed up in a suit and tie, was very respectful, pointed out that I haven't had any infractions in years, and the officer may have been mistaken.

This is true, If the cop doesnt show up its an automatic win. But if the cop does show up you should pretty much know youre taking an L so prepare to pay for your violation.
I said it before and ill say it again, programs like MR Ticket that guarantee that they will reduce or dismiss your ticket are a bunch of scams, youre essentially giving them power of attorney to handle the ticket for you, and honestly all they are doing is standing in your place. All they are going to do is request a trial against the cop and hope that they dont show up. If they do show up they are pretty much screwed and will lie to you and say they "got you a reduced fine" when in reality its the same damn fine you couldve gotten if you went yourself.
TL;DR : Mr Ticket is a scam, you could easily do the shit they do for you yourself.

How about this for a fucking advice...stop listening to what people post up online and get yourself a fucking TRAFFIC LAWYER!!! You'll get your money's worth when you get your fines and offense severity reduced. Hell, you might even get lucky that you get no points against your record and dont have to go to traffic school.

on the east coast, i had (2) 100+ tickets.
I was young, no excuse. Both by a state trooper. I wasnt arrested and didnt lose my license.
1st one cost me $600. I had only had my license for 3 months.
2nd one I got nailed 103 in a 55 and crossing lanes in an intersection. Went to court, talked to the DA, got it Prayer for Judgement, reduced to improper equipment, $110 court cost, $225 fine.
Not condoning what I did, as I now rarely find myself 4~ over the limit.
Its all in appearance, your judge, and your da. Each state is different.

Is this your first ticket? I can't believe this is a thread. Get yourself a ticket lawyer and keep it moving. I got a ticket for reckless driving doing 37 over last year. Paid 120 for a lawyer, and ended with no points no court fees but had to do a 12 hour driving course. tI amazes me that people actually pay their tickets. Take that thing to court! or get a lawyer... And I will take this opportunity to say fuck all cops I hate them all

I love how everyone says, "get a lawyer to help" when all they are there for is to take your place in front of the judge. My experience is in CA:
The pros of having a lawyer present is so you are not wasting time out of your day in court.
The cons: if the case goes to trial then you will most likely lose since your lawyer was not there when you were ticketed for the violation and cannot give detailed statements of the events that took place.
When it's all said and done the copper is the main person who can reduce or dismiss charges. I say that because if the defendants lawyer ask for reduced charges, the judge will 9/10 ask the copper if they would agree to lesser charges.
This is what you do:
-Be respectful.
-Do not waste your money on a lawyer.
-Show up sharp and ready to plead your case.
-Hope the copper does not show up (Good luck if its an LAPD copper).
-Speak with the copper after roll call to see if they plan on dismissing the case or if they would agree to lesser charges (good luck again if LAPD).

Cliffs: Has never met a cop and has zero knowledge of the subject at hand but felt his opinion must be heard.
lol no.
No cheap family sedan (regardless of power) is as composed at 100+ as it is at ~60, that's not considering increased wind/tire/engine noise.
I wish OP had been taken to jail/had car impounded/license revoked; people as stupid/immature as him shouldn't be driving.
thanks for the compliment ass! shit happens and yeah i was being stupid but seriously?!?!?!? im looking for advice not bashing on what i did...i dont need you to fucking tell me that i was being an idiot.. i think my conscience has done that for me so THANKS! im not saying im better than you in anyway but you cant tell me youve NEVER done anything a tad reckless in a car before....
on another note im not going to hire a lawyer because itll be a waste of money im going to have to take the hit and hopefully ask for a lower $$$ amount and something to have it not screw with my license/ record.

You could get reckless driving + endagerment to the passenger + lose your license + 2000$+ fine + some jail time.
bare minimum I'd say 1200-1500 dollar fine and license revoked for 6 months
no joke.
the endangerment usually comes when your over double the speed limit, but could be different in your area

so since we have 75mph speed limits in colorado, I'd have to do 150+MPH to be considered endagering people ? lol I think 100MPH+ is like automatic endangerment anywhere in the usa.
I know that just doing 20 over can be automatic reckless driving if the cop wants to give it.

OP:
Depends on your local laws... Whether or not the cop even shows up to court that day etc. If the cop doesn't show up- plead "not guilty" and you will walk with nothing. Either way, most counties/states have law offices dedicated to getting you off easy(er) in the event of relatively serious traffic violations like this- You should seriously look into this option.
I have no beef with the speed you were doing- so long as you were in the sticks; and weren't 2F2F-ing thru traffic like a butt-monkey... If you want to risk turning yourself into a bloody spot on the road, that's your business.... However, there are tracks for that sort of activity in case you're not aware.
Also, I hope you learned that doing it with music cranked (soaking up at least one of your senses and part of your attention), with a passenger(s) in YOUR MOTHER'S CAR is probably not going to go down in history as one of your shiniest moments. For something like this, I would hand my almost 20yr old son's balls to him and make him cook & eat them on Youtube ;)
Aside from that, man up, take your lumps & be happy that you didn't kill yourself or anyone else... Should make for a great story for you to tell whoever will be taxiing you to/from 'till you get your license back. Even then, you may want to get a second job to afford insurance for the next 6-7yrs in the event things don't go smoothly.

Be careful what you hope for. Karma has a weird way of catching up with people who say stuff like this.

You've never driven a fucking BMW have you? My wifes E46, would cruise to 100 and feel like I'm doing 60mph.

LMAO I read the quote and had the exact same response in my head as you... Our E90 is amazing... Gotta use the cruise control because it feels so 'normal' at speeds way past the local limit... almost like perfectly smooth & glued to the road ;)
Bimmers are fucking badass! SO pissed that I waited till I was over 40 to get one- man I've missed out lol.

Even my old e36 was tits on the freeway. The current z4 can put people to sleep because of how quite and composed it is driving at any damn speed.
