In my quest to further clean up the engine bay of any unsightly connectors, amps, relays and whatnot, I came across the hood switch. On the SE models only , it's found on the passenger side of the car, bolted to the left of the fuse box on the fender. What purpose does this serve......I have a sensor on mine for my aftermarket alarm, but is there anything else to this thing?
Bottom line....any negative affects if I remove it altogether?

does your alarm have autostart? or remote start? because if you do, your car won't start if your hood is open, thus the need for the hood switch.

its tied into the alarm as a trip sensor so that if anyone tries to open your hood they will trip the switch and set off the alarm. i would personally keep it because its a good safety measure.
