View Full Version : s14 sr20det upgrading
So I'm about to upgrade my s14 sr20det,
fiveO 720c injectors
z32 MAF
stock s14 t28 at 14psi
stock everything else.
later on down the road I was to get the apexi hg and arp studs and run a 2871r around 16-18psi and would like to know if the bottom end will take it?
Will I be able to reach my goal of 350whp?

The bottom end will be able to take it as long as it's still in good shape. I wouldn't put those injectors on until you get the turbo though. Just a little over kill even with a tune. If I were you I would source some subaru 550's for cheap and run those until you get the turbo and up the boost.

I'm running detchwerks 740 cc with z32 maf and 264 cams on an s14 Sr had to sell turbo and run stock turbo but upgrading soon :) I made 311whp with 289wtq on 14 psi obviously turbo doesn't work well with the cams.but.still fun power for the setup 350 will definetly be achievable with a new turbo

thanks for the input , how much boost did you run with stock t28? would it be safe to run 14?
I'm thinking about getting the ISIS 3871r , been reading good things about it.

I ran 15psi on my stock T28 for 2 years. It's doable but not really advised to go any more than that. 14 should be fine.
You dont think 16psi is doable? i'm cool with 15.
I figured z23 maf, 740cc injectors and probably a JWT ecu, If i can get close to 290-300whp I'll be happy.

16psi is doable but reaching the end of effeciency in the t28.
Alright sweet.
I'm really debating on what to go for with a tune.... nistune looks awesome but they do do base tunes, I would need to be able to drive my car to ATL to get it tuned, are JTWs tunable?

My tuner tunes for safety and reliability he said 14 psi is the perfect efficiency range for the stock t28 it doesn't get too hot but after that it starts bakeing coat your manifold and turbo elbow and hotside of your turbo and that will help a shit ton that's what I did

I'm using nistune its perfect for what I need honestly is recommend it I don't like premade tunes cause of the fact its not tuned in the zone you drive it.in for air temps and humidity and such
