Hey guys, please take a look. My future s13?!!?

So, I want some feedback here...It is very very very likely that I will purchase this vehicle on Wednesday. Here are the specs:

Sold by Original Owner
Completely stock
Maintained by a Nissan Dealership
Just had new struts and tie rods installed less than 1k ago
No sunroof, manual windows
1990 Fastback
175,000 miles (mostly highway miles)
New battery
5 speed

Purchase price $2,000.

I have test driven this vehicle and it is very smooth and the tranny feels good. There is a slight ticking sounds (very fast ticking, not the injectors) that is audible when pressing the accelerator. No rust, no major accidents, pretty clean interior. Ummmmm that is about all I can think of for now. I will have a compression test done on the day of purchase and may get leak down test depending on the price.

hmmm... looks to be in really bad condition, dont get the car, in fact its a bad car and i need a "junk" car. Give me the address of the person selling the car and maybe I can work out a deal with them.... hehehe......

Only concern I can see is that it has a recent repaint. And a bad repaint if it is already coming off the front bumper. A repaint might suggest that the paint is hiding something. Check with a magnet for bondo work or signs of a wreck.

My car was a nice shiny black macco respray when I got it, now the bumpers are faded and I can see 3 different colored panels under the chipping off black paint...

that car has overheated b4 or the battery blew up. it has been repainted...trust me. if u got time..run a magnet around the body and search for bondo..or u can knock on it with your knuckles. then u will know 4 sure.
my car looked the same and i found bondo and welds. but it is very nice though

wow. i knew that looked too clean too be the original paint. i was a bit jealous. lol. but the engine bay shows its age. i'd check for bondo as well as others mentioned if its been resprayed.

That looks like a nice car. For $2k, who could argue with that. I got my 95 S14 for $2k, tranny is good, everything is good except the owner left his "Honor Roll Student" bumper sticker!! Of course im nothing NEAR that. I'd be better off with a Type-R Badge. LoL, i'd be funnier i tell you that. xpecially with all the Honda dorks at school. When i say dorks i mean DORKS! dont kno nothin but "i want a GSR/type R/SiR" yea... ill stfu now...

Bullshit

Its missing some painted-over badging on the hatchlid and is otherwise far too clean for its age. The front bumper is faded just like a cheap recent respray.


If the seller is lying to you about a repaint I would be skeptical about other things.

If it really hasn't been re-painted someone really took good care of that car. Body looks awesome? Black hides dents and imperfections in pictures. Hows the body look in person?

I suspect it has been though.. especially since it's missing ALL the emblems. Only thing left is the black strip around the car..

Get under the car, and look at the rear-end for leaks around the front pinion seal, and oil leaks around the oil pan..

Also, the quarter rear panel and the driver's door has been repainted but besides that the guy has just really babied the car....He is a really nice guy and I met him through my job here at the Nissan dealership I work at. He just mentioned that he has had the vehicle in the garage and never really drives it so he would like to get rid of it but he was actually not serious about selling the vehicle. You can tell that he loves that car and doesn't want to get rid of it. He even asked me not to modify into a rice mobile. In any case if the vehicle was repainted it was a damn good job because the paint job is awesome. And I know the paint looks flawless in the pics but there are scrathes and a couple small dents, I guess the pics make it look a lot better then it does. Also, I don't think the guy would like to lie to me (he is a smart guy)...he takes his vehicle here to get it serviced and he will probably buy a car here soon, in which case it would be smart for him to build the best relationship he can with me, since I am in the finance department here :-) ...

Also, the car will be up tomorrow so I will have a perfect oppurtunity to closely look at evrything....Plus I just checked his ervice records on the car, that guy has spent a lot of money keeping her healthy, a lot of money......Also he has only put 3k on the car since 98....I love working at a dealership hehe..
