hey gang, i've been hangin out here for some time due to my affinity for the S13 body style and performance. i just found a car near me that i'm thinking about making an offer on and i'd like to be seriously grounded as to what its worth. anyhow, here's the lowdown for the experts:
-1990 S13 5spd red sunroof with stock aliminum wheels 103,000 miles
-peeling clearcoat on all fenders and bumpers (some plastic showing even)
-severe oxidation on roof, hood, deck lid, bumpers
-minor dent on door panel
-spoiler has notorious rusting and about a half dollar sized hole under it (looks awful)
the guy wanted 3000, now its down to 2500 and i think it isn't worth 1500. all this is BEFORE even driving it. the inside looks alright for a 14 year old car.
what do you guys think about it all? any advice?

sounds like a piece. it better run great for that price. but based on the exterior, i highly doubt it does. way over priced IMO

oh yeah, i plan on putting an SR in it and repainting the whole car anyhow. i just don't want to spend a lot on a car i'm gonna fix up anyhow.

I say knock it down to 1500. I've seen 91+ go for $2500. Your option is to either pass and wait for a better deal. If you REALLY want it BADLY, and I mean BADLY, test drive it and check for rust ALL over the car. If there is rust under the spoiler like you said, then there is a huge chance that there is even more rust somewhere around the car that you cannot see.
The paint isn't really a big deal since you're planning to paint it again anyways. The engine doesn't have that many miles so it's safe to assume the chassis is good.
I advise you to wait :hsdance:
A bargaining technique is to bring a Kelly Blue Book print out with you when you go there to show him how he's inflating the value of his car 3 fold, lol. Also, if you have cash in hand and wave it around in his face, he might settle with you because greed is a good technique

i'll try all that if i decide to go for it. i'm lookin for a cheap coupe though. i like the silvia front end a lot. i guess coupe or hatch makes no diff to me. they both have their own brands of hottness.
if anyone's sellin one in the houston area lemme know.
thanx

For $3K he could keep the damn car. It'll cost you almost as much just to paint it (a good job). Good luck.
